What place does marriage have in the next decade? Parenting without marriage appears to have become acceptable, as has participating in sexual liberties free from stigmas of past generations. Society functions, and families are still families. What purpose, then, does marriage serve now? Grit, can you not commit without marriage? Seriously.

How does gay marriage affect tradition or religion? I am just wondering once again on the opinion of people for this issue/debate. I have to debate on it in class tomorrow. In my case I am against gay marriage for the debate, but I am for Civil Unions. I don't think the ppl that are gay should get the title, because they already have C.U.'s. Also, this can affect the tradition of people that don't want it, ect... How would you solve this issue, according to my case? -if you can please use statistics and information you know to be against the issue/debate.
What encourages people to wait until marriage to have sex? There are plenty of people who decide to wait to have sex with their partners until marriage and I just don't understand the reasons. If people are in a close-caring relationship, what is the point of waiting until after you have made a strong commitment, such as marriage, to express it?
What is your stance on gay marriage and what are your reasons? The rules are you cannot comprise your reason with any religious logic. When I say marriage I am speaking of the cut and dry laws that would surround the subject. This means I also don't want answers that just say "Because its gross!". In addition I've also found many trying to give me the cut and dry no by stating that it would create tax loopholes. Reality: A man and a woman could create the same loopholes just as easily so none of that thank you very much. Procede in your answering. I am trying to look at this from a fair unbiased prospective and so far I can't come up with any reasons why gay marriage shouldn't be legal. If you can make a fair arguement otherwise, I welcome your answer. I'm not saying anyone's religion is wrong ,but it shouldn't play a part in the legalities of the situation. If Athiests are allowed marriage, why not gays? This is the arguement used for why marriage is a sacred bond between man and wife ,but marriage ,whether you like it or not, is a legal oath taken by two individualsa and by law is not influence by religion. This is my reasoning for trying to exclude religious viewpoints. I am being very unbiased. It is unbiased because too many people would like to passionify their answer to make a big deal about it. I'm simply stating to use raw logic without emotion. This means I'm asking you to also be unbiased. Its like saying "Chocolate is better than vanilla". This cannot be proven ,but anyone can have an opinion on the subject. Its just that; I don't want opinions. I want cold hard facts and logic. The difference between gay couples and sex predators is that they are acting willingly on both sides. Yes, there is gay rape and that is a crime ,but two people of consenting age going into that situation is nothing more than sex whether it be gay or straight. I bet many people think that morbidly obese people having sex is "gross" ,but I'm pretty sure there have been no rallies to keep them from marrying. Get it? There are many straight couples that are unable to reproduce. Just a tip, I'm not gay or anything like that. I'm just looking for a logical answer for the LAW side of this situation. Whether a couple marries or not they will probably still be together so lets speak in hypothetical terms. Say we're speaking in terms of calling gays birds and straights bees.(just sticking with the classic format here) I can fully understand not liking something ,but I'm about doing what is right without the "like factor" involved. For example: I don't like pickles ,but I'm not going stop anyone else from eating them.
What makes gay marriage different from straight marriage, fundamentally speaking? I was reading Pinker's discussions on government in "The Blank Slate", and I had an epiphany on the psychological motives for marriage. Let me know if you feel I'm wrong please, but it's the right to property and inheritance. The comfort in life with knowing that your stuff is protected even after death, that people can't kill you off just to take your stuff. That you've got someone to back you up in the case you stop living. I think there's a minor paradox with marriage with no kids because what happens when both partners die? But I think that has got be one of our instinctual needs: the need to inherit or own our property even after death. Do you think this is off base? Honestly, what's wrong with consensual bigamy? Would it lower the divorce rate?
What is the difference between sanctity of marriage and a civil union? Do gay couples want either/or? Does marriage give you the same rights as a civil union? My thinking is that marriage is done in churches by ministers, pastors, priests. And a civil union is done by a judge in a court house or at the couples home or else where. Am I right? Please tell me the differences and what gay couples want?
Did pro gay marriage activists agree to have a vote on the issue? They obvioulsy did and never expected the outcome in California. Now that marriage is banned they are crying foul. Maybe they should listen to the people and how we define marriage as a society. They remind me of people that bet on a 'guaranteed' winner in sports. When that team loses, they refuse to pay. Marriage was never a civil right, and never will be.
How did Gay Marriage get mixed in with the important issues? Sorry, gay people, that the only non-gays who care about this issue are adamantly against gay marriage. While the rest of us just don't want to look like homophobes so we pretend to have an opinion while we really don't care what you do in your spare time, and don't particularly want to know.

There were no tensions between us or anything. I have heard that dreaming of marriage means a death? But what type of death? What are the drawbacks for one partner in a marriage filing for bankruptcy? My marriage partner is not willing to file for bankruptcy, as I am. I have debt in my name that I am wanting to be expunged. I am not working, and I only have a few monthly bills (i.e. cell phone, cable) in my name. Is it better to proceed and try to have my debt discharged, or to wait and see if he will be willing to file later down the road- together?
Can a common law marriage from Texas be legally recognized in Louisiana? My fiance and I just got a declaration of informal marriage from the county clerks office here in Texas. His job is based out of Louisiana and they are telling us that because they don't recognize common law marriages they can't add me to his insurance. I read up on Texas common law and found out it's as legal as a real marriage, if we split we'd have to go through a divorce and everything. So shouldn't it be recognized as legally binding in other states?
Would the marriage between a Cannibal and a Vegetarian be able to work? BEFORE you report me . Heres why I ask. My sister met a guy that is some kinda Africa Prince. How would a society without marriage work? I've talked to a few people recently who don't think marriage works. While my parents have had a good marriage, I know a lot of people haven't. Is a pre-immigration marriage between two resident aliens who live in the US considered valid in California? Ok, here's the situation. -A husband and wife were married in Venezuela at the ages of 20 and 21 before they came to the US, specifically California. -Both are resident aliens legally residing in Northern California with all the proper documentation. -After 25 years of marriage, they have begun to seriously consider divorce. -Both have substantial assets, including a home. They have 3 children together, all born in this country. They have all the accouterments of normal US citizens minus the citizenship. Do California marriage laws still apply to them if they wanted to legally seperate considering they aren't citizens and were married before they even set foot in this country?

How can you prove no marriage occurred between two people? I have this lady I know, and she's involved in some legal issues, and the court has repeatedly stated she was married to this other person, but she was not. They refuse to look into this themselves. Is there any way to force the court to investigate this or is there some document you can obtain proving that no marriage between two individuals ever occurred? Any help with this tricky question would be greatly appreciated as I am no lawyer myself. I saw something called "Certificate of No Public Marriage" but I'm not sure if this would do the trick?

What accreditation does it take to become a family/marriage counselor? Member since: March 28, 2006 Total points: 562 (Level 2) Points earned this week: --% Best answer lilmissy S What accreditation to become a family/marriage counselor? I want to become a family/marriage counselor. I'm working on a bachelor of psychology now. I don't have the time to become a licensed psychologist, I just want to work with hurting children and families. I've heard some people say it takes hours (approx. 2000) of clinical work before you can become licensed. How is it then that pastors have clergy licenses and are able to counsel people. I'm wondering if it would be easier to get a theology degree and counsel through a church. Any suggestions?
