"I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody"? Why do you think Bill Cosby said this? How does this quote relate to the actions of many people?
Controversial Alicia Keys quotes on rap??!? These were quotes from her Blender magazine interview: “‘Gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist.” 50 Cent's response to this: "I don’t like Alicia Keys no more. If she thinks what they consider gangsta music is [made] to bring black people down then I think my sh*t falls into that category. I don’t like people who don’t like me. I don’t like her then because that’s what provides the life for me. I think if you ask Ice Cube the same shit, he’ll tell you, “F*ck Alicia Keys” for even saying that. Because the success he’s had as an actor and a businessman, there was no opportunity for that sh*t without N.W.A." Do you think what she said is even partially true, even if you take it more lightly.. Like, gangsta rap helps attribute to black opression and helps people in the 'ghetto' stay trapped in a negative lifestyle, culture and mindset, due to not-so-positive lyrics in rap that people can take way too seriously? I'm not saying that these sort of terrible things that they rap about -don't happen-. I am very aware that these things do happen. What I'm asking is do you think that this continued negative lyricism is supporting these bad things happening?? All you hear in rap is guns, bling, killing cops and h-es. Kids hear this and (however mildly) adapt this to their personality and lives. I'm asking, do you think that if rap started throwing out more positive lyrics, would this at least turn some kids towards a better direction?? It's like being called a 'b*tch', the more you're called it, the more you begin to believe it. How can you say this is untrue with music??

Poem or Quotes about passion for work.? Please direct me to any poems or quotes about passion for life or work. For example: Nobody can be successful unless he loves his work." — David Sarnoff CEO of RCA "Love. Fall in love and stay in love. Write only what you love, and love what you write. Toyota car keys. I lost my only set of keys to my car. The problem is that key was programmed with code!? I am located in australia. the dealership I purchased the car from only provided me with one set of correct keys and two sets of incorrect keys(belong to some other cars). I realised the mistake late last year. I contacted them to seek the whereabout of the other keys with no success. I made 2 duplicates of the keys but they cannot start the engine (because these duplicates haven't been programmed) Yesterday, I lost that only set of workable key. I contacted the dealerday again today to see if they can provide me with a new master key(that is programmed to match my car) Their(the dealership) response now is: because you lost your master key, they cannot simply duplicate the key. but to change the system and the code of my car altogether and to manufacture a new master key for me. AT MY COST. which they quoted could be around AUS $2500 My dad suggested me to contact the toyota factory directly to get the code. He believes all the details are stored in their worldwide database Please advise me if you have any knowledge regarding the manufacture of a new master key(some people call it a magic key) OR the internal THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Who made this famous quote? Knowledge is the key to success. Who made this quote?
Is my honors program essay well written? I am planning on going to Point Park University in Pittsburgh for college. I have already been accepted and am majoring in journalism. I eventually plan on double majoring in journalism and broadcasting and minoring in either history or sports management. My ultimate goal is to work in communications for the NHL organization or an NHL team. I am not applying to the Honors Program at Point Park. What we had to do is chose a quote from a list of quotes and write an essay that was 300-500 words. I chose the quote "Patience is a key element of success," by Bill Gates. Here's my essay. Could you please tell me if it's well written and if I need to make any adjustments to it?? Everyone has dreams. I have dreams. You have dreams. We all have dreams. It is how we act on our dreams that set us apart from each other. I chose not to sit and just dream, I chose to act on my dreams and do everything possible to pursue and reach my dreams. To reach my dreams, though, I know I will have to have a great amount of patience. As Bill Gates once said, “Patience is a key element of success.” This quote is true. Without patience, Gates would have never created Microsoft. It took Thomas Edison thousands and thousands of tries before he created the light bulb. We would be still be using candlelight today, if Thomas Edison would not have had patience for his creation. I am a big dreamer. I reach for the highest point possible in everything I pursue. I pursued to make honor roll while in high school and was successful. I reached for the position of Sports Editor for my school’s newspaper and was successful. Even high school dreams that I have reached would not have been possible if I had not had patience. Now, I am ready for the next chapter to begin in my life, college. As an incoming journalism major, I know Point Park University is the college for me and will give me the tools and offer me the opportunities that I need to pursue my dream of becoming a sports reporter for the NHL organization or an NHL team. I know it will take a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and patience to fulfill my dream, but that is what makes the journey exciting. I know I will not make it to the top right away, but with patience and hard work and dream is reachable. The only thing I believe is missing that will help me on my journey of fulfilling my dreams is to be accepted in to the Honors Program at Point Park University. Being a part of the Honors Program will give me an advantage above all other students, a well-rounded liberal arts education, and excellent credentials when applying for internships. I can only hope you will allow me to shine in the Honors Program and help me to fulfill my dreams.
What do you think about this motivational quote? Any comment? Thank Your! Say this to yourself: "I believe what I said and what I said is a key to success. " (I believe what I said) I am strongly believe what I have said to myself, and I will not get affected by other people. (What I said is a key to success) The following are 2 example; if you are planing to save an amount of money and you are going to start your saving tomorrow, and then you can make use of your saving to do something that is meaningful or successful to you right? Also, if you want to go to College or University then isn't it a way to help you to become a successful person in the future? This is a really powerful motivational quote, if you associate a feeling when you say it to yourself; say it out loud or in your mind either way will work.
Where does this Bill Cosby quote come from? "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. " "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." Was it from a book, a show?

The Lakers really need help RIGHT NOW!!! (Mailing Letters to the Facility)? Here is the address : 555 N. Nash Street El Segundo, CA 90245 If all of you really want another three-peat for the Lakers and if this really means alot to you all, I think you better start sending letters to the team right now while they are on their 7 game long road trip before the all-star break so then they can really get focused again and get prepared for the playoffs no matter what their record and the playoff seed is. Kobe Bryant has been refusing to get his teammates involved and he's been starting to take too many shots again like he was being the Same Kobe Bryant from 2005 to 2007. It really has to stop RIGHT NOW!!! This is not 2005-2007 anymore. This is supposed to be a Lakers Elite Team like 2008, 2009 and 2010. We also don't want to be like 2003 and 2004 when Kobe blamed the whole team by not winning 4 straight nba titles and failing to win a 4th championship in the first 5 years when Phil Jackson became a coach for the lakers. It means that Kobe has to learn to be patient and give more chances to his teammates again such like he was the last couple of years. If you all don't send any laker letters to the practice facility, the Lakers are in big trouble. Here are some quotes that I've learned from the movie "Coach Carter". I kind of revised them a little bit so I think you should also give out the quotes to the team and let them know to get their chemistry back in time again like it was the last couple of years or otherwise it's going to be like it is now. Here they are!!! Quote 1 When we step on the floor every second that clock is ticking, we are pedal to the metal, we run the ball, we pressure the ball, and most importantly we control the tempo of the game, we make them play Los Angeles Lakers ball. (Possibly being able to get better at offense and defense for the entire game) Quote 2 One person struggles, we all struggle. One person triumphs, we all triumph. (Possibly Overcoming a problem of beating any elite team in the NBA) Quote 3 Success in here, is the key to success out there (Possibly winning a third straight title) I'm sorry that this is pretty long but whatever I mentioned in this letter, do you all agree or disagree with me? Anyway, Hope this helps!!! Good luck you all and GO LAKERS!!! Peace, -Will P.S. VERY IMPORTANT - The mailing address at the very top of the letter. Thank you!!!

Collaboration projects that involve looking at things from another perspective? I have an essay on a quote that basically says 'looking at things from another person's POV is a key to success.' I have everything else written, but I need an instance (PREFERABLY literary or historical) that involves a group working together. Said group has to work together on something, and to complete it they need to be able to see things from each other's point of view. Also, it can't be an instance of something YOU and YOUR friends/classmates/etc. did. I'd prefer for it to be well known. Thanks!

Could anyone find Sam Walton's quote on Walmart's success?? It seems he talked like " the key to Walmart's success is communication" or something.... Thanks! Thank you, Mr. G. I read about this quote from a Chinese article. May I put the literal translation here so it can help find the quote: If you must distill a logic from Walmart's management system, it is likely to be communication, because it is one of the real keys leading to our success. P.S. This is referred to as Walton's Law by the Chinese, but I just can't find it on google
These quotes once had a great impact of me. What do they do for you? These quotes once meant so much to me and stroked me with so much power and belief. They no longer do for some reason, but I wanted to share them with you all. I'm curious to see if they do what they once did for me, to spark that something in you! What do they mean to you? “Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass.” “Enter every activity without giving mental recognition to the possibility of defeat. Concentrate on your strengths, instead of your weaknesses... on your powers, instead of your problems.” “Plan your progress carefully; hour-by hour, day-by-day, month-by-month. Organized activity and maintained enthusiasm are the wellsprings of your power.” “Communication--the human connection--is the key to personal and career success.” “Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” “Crystallize your goals. Make a plan for achieving them and set yourself a deadline. Then, with supreme confidence, determination and disregard for obstacles and other people's criticisms, carry out your plan.” "The starting point of all achievement is desire” “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.” Oh! Credit to Paul J. Meyer, Napoleon Hill and George Bernard Shaw.

help please .. essay for my final? can u please tell me if this essay is good... a cultural mobile is a project i did its a coat hanger w/ weird objects on it .... My Cultural Mobile Although my cultural mobile may appear childish with the seemingly insignificant objects hanging from it, my cultural mobile reflects my personal culture, because the objects actually symbolize the fact that I value animals, faith and education. My cultural mobile reflects my personal culture, because the ceramic dog and bird on it symbolizes that I value animals. I help the local animal shelter for community service every Tuesday. I take care of the animals by changing their food and water, and showing love and compassion. I see many animals at the shelter that have been neglected and I want to find a way to stop animal abuse. I take care of my seven parakeets at home. I supply them with everything they need, play with them, and I adore them. I want to become a Veterinarian one day, to help all animals. Therefore animals are very important to me, I show that by helping them in every way possible. The cross on my cultural mobile symbolizes that I value my faith by reflecting my personal culture. Every Sunday I attend church. I eagerly listen to the pastors’ sermon and make a note of his sayings. I go to bible classes and learn about Jesus and I feel closer to him every time I study the bible. I make a silent prayer every night before I go to bed. I feel the strength of my relationship between god and my faith by praying. I pray for all God has given me in life. I believe that attending church and praying is crucial for a Christian’s faith. Finally, the graduation teddy bear on my cultural mobile reflects my personal cultural by showing that I value my education. The most famous quote in my book is, “Education is the key to success”. I go to school everyday and get a good education. I pay attention in class and stay focused on all my work. I eagerly gain knowledge of the day’s lesson, and complete all my work with flying colors. I want to attend a four year college after high school. Education is very important, so I chose to take college preparation classes so I will be ready for college. I am also participating in Hoovers’ California Scholarship Federation, and Armenian club. I believe that attending school and becoming involved will lead to achievement. The appearance of something can be totally different from its interior. That brings up the quote, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” my cultural mobile to the public is that strange looking, “book”. Even though my cultural mobile seems irrelevant, it reflects my culture, and the objects on it represents that I value my family, faith, and education. Appearance is not everything, strive for what is within.

Which quote is the best? I have to write an essay for school and I don't which quote to use. Can you help me pick the best one? a) Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. b) To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded. c) A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her.
Do you think my essay is good? The question was how education contributes to your future? My educational experience has created for me a very bright future and there’s no way I can repay that but make sure I make my life worth living. Meaning stay focused and don’t give up just because I’ve made it this far. I know everyone has heard of the quote “education is the jey to success”. Well I’m living testimony of it I have accomplished being on the honor roll, winning numerous awards for academics, and making it to the 12th grade. Although kids in the United States can get an education for free other kids in different countries don’t have that oppurnity. For example my father is from Haiti and didn’t have the chance to get an education. That’s why he stresses me to get my education he says, “I don’t want you to have to struggle working in a factory like me”. Education improves the quality of my life because I don’t have to flip a burger at McDonalds, or working in a factory because I can become a doctor, nurse, lawyer, pediatrician, or a teacher. Like my grandparents didn’t acquire a lot of education. They still live good lives because they used the little education they had and made it useful. My grandfather started business and it was successful. They really benefited from their education because without knowing math and some business techniques they wouldn’t have started their businesses and lead such good lives. Also I plan to acquire a lot of education because I seen my brothers and sisters not finish school and now they are struggling. I wouldn’t be able to go to college to major in nursing and have a good paying job. I and my family would live better life because of the educated I required. Most African Americans think you have to be a rapper or dribble a ball to have money and be successful. I have the chance to go farther in life instead of just working at a factory or fast food restaurant. Even if you don’t continue with your education what you have learned can never be taken away from you. Education is the key to success with education you can’t become a doctor, or lawyer. You should acquire all the education you can so you can be successful and won’t have to struggle in life. I’m going to get all the education I can because I seen my brothers and sisters struggle because they didn’t even finish high school and it’s not pretty. So I’m not going to take my opportunity for granted.

I investigated to awnser on Pentamedia Graphic share shares? I investigated by surfing many websites and came to know that Pentamedia are good schemist but slow implmentor so they suffer losses at the cost of investor. Under scheme of arrangement they will demerge many companies popular among them are mayajal and NUM TV. They wish to become poducer and distributors of animated films worldwide market. While implementing scheme they face legal & financial hurdels.They ignore investors who bought PGL @ Rs.2000 and now it is quoted Rs.6 with FV Rs.1/-. They compressed their expensive share to the value of Rs.1/ to raise urgently needed funds. They are thinking Rs.1/- shares will be sold so they will get enough money to compensate investors with the merger scheme like Jindal have done successfully JSPL Rs.1/- share is quoted above Rs.2,000 now., many more like RIL are planning. to do the same Advertisement is key o success of Business Give this job to one who knows it.
How do I stop being a 'nice guy'? Alright, I know what you're thinking... being a nice guy is a good thing, right? I thought so too, but I live my life constantly changing who I am to suit others, so I practically let other people run my life, and I also am always looking for approval for everything I do, which is leading me to have so much stress/anxiety... I'm starting to forget who I really am... I also have low self-esteem. Everything I do, I feel is never good enough, and sometimes I even feel guilty about having tried and failed at something. I read a quote by Bill Cosby the other day... it was something along the lines of "I don't know what the key to success is, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone." How do I start living life for myself? How do I gain more confidence? How do I get past the guilt of letting people down? If you have the time, but think you need more info, let me know... this is really important in my life right now, so I could really use the help. Thank you!
What is your favorite quoteor scripture (all religions and athiests welcome)? Now, without any prejudice or religion (or lack thereof) bashing, please share your favorite scripture or quote, or both. Please explain what they mean and why you like it. Mine is: I don't know they key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. -Bill Cosby- AND 2nd Nephi 2:28 7 Yea, and there shall be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die; and it shall be well with us. 8 And there shall also be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless, fear God—he will justify in committing a little sin; yea, lie a little, take the advantage of one because of his words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this; and do all these things, for tomorrow we die; and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom of God. 9 Yea, and there shall be many which shall teach after this manner, afalse and vain and bfoolish cdoctrines, and shall be puffed up in their hearts, and shall seek deep to hide their counsels from the Lord; and their works shall be in the dark. This is the best, but it VERY LONG! You don’t have to read it. Doctrine and Covenants 88 , 1 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you who have assembled yourselves together to receive his will concerning you: 2 Behold, this is pleasing unto your Lord, and the angels rejoice over you; the alms of your prayers have come up into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded in the book of the names of the sanctified, even them of the celestial world. 3 Wherefore, I now send upon you another Comforter, even upon you my friends, that it may abide in your hearts, even the Holy Spirit of promise; which other Comforter is the same that I promised unto my disciples, as is recorded in the testimony of John. 4 This Comforter is the promise which I give unto you of eternal life, even the glory of the celestial kingdom; 5 Which glory is that of the church of the Firstborn, even of God, the holiest of all, through Jesus Christ his Son— 6 He that ascended up on high, as also he d descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth; 7 Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ. As also he is in the sun, and the light of the sun, and the power thereof by which it was made. 8 As also he is in the moon, and is the light of the moon, and the power thereof by which it was made; 9 As also the light of the stars, and the power thereof by which they were made; 10 And the earth also, and the power thereof, even the earth upon which you stand. 11 And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings; 12 Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space— 13 The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in t midst of all things. 14 Now, verily I say unto you, that through the redemption which is made for you is brought to pass the resurrection from the dead. 15 And the spirit and the body are the soul of man. 16 And the resurrection from the dead is the redemption of the soul. 17 And the redemption of the soul is through him that quickeneth all things, in whose bosom it is decreed that the poor and the meek of the earth shall inherit it. 18 Therefore, it must needs be sanctified from all unrighteousness, that it may be prepared for the celestial glory; 19 For after it hath filled the measure of its creation, it shall be crowned with glory, even with the presence of God the Father; 20 That bodies who are of the celestial kingdom may possess it forever and ever; for, for this intent was it made and created, and for this intent are they sanctified. 21 And they who are not sanctified through the law which I have given unto you, even the law of Christ, must inherit anoth kingdom, even that of a terrestrial kingdom, or that of a telestial kingdom. 22 For he who is not able to abide the law of a celestial kingdom cannot abide a celestial glory. 23 And he who cannot abide the law of a terrestrial kingdom cannot abide a terrestrial glory. 24 And he who cannot abide the law of a telestial kingdom cannot abide a telestial glory; therefore he is not meet for a kingdom of glory. Therefore he must abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory. 25 And again, verily I say unto you, the earth abideth the law of a celestial kingdom, for it filleth the measure of its creation, and transgresseth not the law— 26 Wherefore, it shall be sanctified; yea, notwithstanding it shall die, it shall be quickened again, and shall abide the power by which it is quickened, and the righteous shall inherit it. 27 For notwithstanding they die, they also shall rise again, a spiritual body. 28 They who are of a celestial spirit shall receive the same body which w was a natural body; even ye shall receive your bodies, and your glory shall be that glory by which your bodies are quickened. 29 Ye who are quickened by a portion of the celestial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness. 30 And they who are quickened by a portion of the terrestrial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness. 31 And also they who are quickened by a portion of the telestial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness. 32 And they who remain shall also be quickened; nevertheless, they shall return again to their own place, to enjoy that which they are willing to receive, because they were not willing to enjoy that which they might have received. 33 For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he receive not the gift? Behold, he rejoices not in that which is given unto him, neither rejoices in him who is the giver of the gift. 34 And again, verily I say unto you, that which is governed by law is also pr preserved by law and perfected and sanctified by the same. 35 That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, cannot be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment. Therefore, they must remain filthy still. 36 All kingdoms have a law given; 37 And there are many kingdoms; for there is no space in the which there is no kingdom; and there is no kingdom in which there is no space, either a greater or a lesser kingdom. 38 And unto every kingdom is given a law; and unto every law there are certain bounds also and conditions. 39 All beings who abide not in those conditions are not justified. 40 For intelligence cleaveth unto intelligence; wisdom receiveth wisdom; truth embraceth truth; virtue loveth virtue; light cleaveth unto light; mercy hath compassion on mercy and claimeth her own; justice continueth its course and claimeth its own; judgment goeth befor the face of him who sitteth upon the throne and governeth and executeth all things. 41 He comprehendeth all things, and all things are before him, and all things are round about him; and he is above all things, and in all things, and is through all things, and is round about all things; and all things are by him, and of him, even God, forever and ever. 42 And again, verily I say unto you, he hath given a law unto all things, by which they move in their times and their seasons; 43 And their courses are fixed, even the courses of the heavens and the earth, which comprehend the earth and all the planets. 44 And they give light to each other in their times and in their seasons, in their minutes, in their hours, in their days, in their weeks, in their months, in their years—all these are one year with God, but not with man. 45 The earth rolls upon her wings, and the sun giveth his light by day, and the moon giveth her light by night, and the stars also give their light, as th they roll upon their wings in their glory, in the midst of the power of God. 46 Unto what shall I liken these kingdoms, that ye may understand? 47 Behold, all these are kingdoms, and any man who hath seen any or the least of these hath seen God moving in his majesty and power. 48 I say unto you, he hath seen him; nevertheless, he who came unto his own was not comprehended. 49 The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not; nevertheless, the day shall come when you shall comprehend even God, being quickened in him and by him. 50 Then shall ye know that ye have seen me, that I am, and that I am the true light that is in you, and that you are in me; otherwise ye could not abound. 51 Behold, I will liken these kingdoms unto a man having a field, and he sent forth his servants into the field to dig in the field. 52 And he said unto the first: Go ye and labor in the field, and in the first hour I will come unto you, and ye shall behold the joy of my countenance. 53 And he said unto the second: Go ye also into the field, and in the second hour I will visit you with the joy of my countenance. 54 And also unto the third, saying: I will visit you; 55 And unto the fourth, and so on unto the twelfth. 56 And the lord of the field went unto the first in the first hour, and tarried with him all that hour, and he was made glad with the light of the countenance of his lord. 57 And then he withdrew from the first that he might visit the second also, and the third, and the fourth, and so on unto the twelfth. 58 And thus they all received the light of the countenance of their lord, every man in his hour, and in his time, and in his season— 59 Beginning at the first, and so on unto the last, and from the last unto the first, and from the first unto the last; 60 Every man in his own order, until his hour was finished, even according as his lord had commanded him, that his lord might be glorified in him, and he in his lord, that they all might be glorified. 61 Therefore, unto this parable I will liken all these kingdoms, and the inhabitants thereof—every kingdom in its hour, and in its time, and in its season, even according to the decree which God hath made. 62 And again, verily I say unto you, my friends, I leave these sayings with you to ponder in your hearts, with this commandment which I give unto you, that ye shall call upon me while I am near— 63 Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 64 Whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name it shall be given unto you, that is expedient for you; 65 And if ye ask anything that is not expedient for you, it shall turn unto your condemnation. 66 Behold, that which you hear is as the voice of one crying in the wilderness—in the wilderness, because you cannot see him—my voice, because my voice is Spirit; my Spirit is truth; truth abide and hath no end; and if it be in you it shall abound. 67 And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things. 68 Therefore, sanctify yourselves that your minds become single to God, and the days will come that you shall see him; for he will unveil his face unto you, and it shall be in his own time, and in his own way, and according to his own will. 69 Remember the great and last promise which I have made unto you; cast away your idle thoughts and your excess of laughter far from you. 70 Tarry ye, tarry ye in this place, and call a solemn assembly, even of those who are the first laborers in this last kingdom. 71 And let those whom they have warned in their traveling call on the Lord, and ponder the warning in their hearts which they have received, for a little season. 72 Behold, and lo, I will take care of your flocks, and will rais raise up elders and send unto them. 73 Behold, I will hasten my work in its time. 74 And I give unto you, who are the first laborers in this last kingdom, a commandment that you assemble yourselves together, and organize yourselves, and prepare yourselves, and sanctify yourselves; yea, purify your hearts, and cleanse your hands and your feet before me, that I may make you clean; 75 That I may testify unto your Father, and your God, and my God, that you are clean from the blood of this wicked generation; that I may fulfil this promise, this great and last promise, which I have made unto you, when I will. 76 Also, I give unto you a commandment that ye shall continue in prayer and fasting from this time forth. 77 And I give unto you a commandment that you shall teach one another the doctrine of the kingdom. 78 Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in doctrine, in the law of the gospel, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand; 79 Of things both in heaven and in the earth, and under the earth; things which have been, things which are, things which must shortly come to pass; things which are at home, things which are abroad; the wars and the perplexities of the nations, and the judgments which are on the land; and a knowledge also of countries and of kingdoms— 80 That ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the mission with which I have commissioned you. 81 Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor. 82 Therefore, they are left without excuse, and their sins are upon their own heads. 83 He that seeketh me early shall find me, and shall not be forsaken. 84 Therefore, tarry ye, and labor diligently, that you may be perfected in your ministry to go forth a among the Gentiles for the last time, as many as the mouth of the Lord shall name, to bind up the law and seal up the testimony, and to prepare the saints for the hour of judgment which is to come; 85 That their souls may escape the wrath of God, the desolation of abomination which awaits the wicked, both in this world and in the world to come. Verily, I say unto you, let those who are not the first elders continue in the vineyard until the mouth of the Lord shall call them, for their time is not yet come; their garments are not clean from the blood of this generation. 86 Abide ye in the liberty wherewith ye are made free; entangle not yourselves in sin, but let your hands be clean, until the Lord comes. 87 For not many days hence and the earth shall tremble and reel to and fro as a drunken man; and the sun shall hide his face, and shall refuse to give light; and the moon shall be bathed in blood; and the stars shall become exceedingly angry, and shall cast themselves down as a fig that falleth from off a fig-tree. 88 And after your testimony cometh wrath and indignation upon the people. 89 For after your testimony cometh the testimony of earthquakes, that shall cause groanings in the midst of her, and men shall fall upon the ground and shall not be able to stand. 90 And also cometh the testimony of the voice of thunderings, and the voice of lightnings, and the voice of tempests, and the voice of the waves of the sea heaving themselves beyond their bounds. 91 And all things shall be in commotion; and surely, men’s hearts shall fail them; for fear shall come upon all people. 92 And angels shall fly through the midst of heaven, crying with a loud voice, sounding the trump of God, saying: Prepare ye, prepare ye, O inhabitants of the earth; for the bjudgment of our God is come. Behold, and lo, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 93 And immediately there shall appear a great sign in heaven, and all people shall see it together. 94 And another angel shall sound his trump, saying: That great church, the mother of abominations, that made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, that persecuteth the saints of God, that shed their blood—she who sitteth upon many waters, and upon the islands of the sea—behold, she is the tares of the earth; she is bound in bundles; her bands are made strong, no man can loose them; therefore, she is ready to be burned. And he shall sound his trump both long and loud, and all nations shall hear it. 95 And there shall be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour; and immediately after shall the curtain of heaven be unfolded, as a scroll is unfolded after it is rolled up, and the face of the Lord shall be unveiled; 96 And the saints that are upon the earth, who are alive, shall be quickened and be caught up to meet him. 97 And they who have slept in their graves shall come forth, for their graves shall be opened; and they also shall be caught up to mee him in the midst of the pillar of heaven— 98 They are Christ’s, the first fruits, they who shall descend with him first, and they who are on the earth and in their graves, who are first caught up to meet him; and all this by the voice of the sounding of the trump of the angel of God. 99 And after this another angel shall sound, which is the second trump; and then cometh the redemption of those who are Christ’s at his coming; who have received their part in that prison which is prepared for them, that they might receive the gospel, and be judged according to men in the flesh. 100 And again, another trump shall sound, which is the third trump; and then come the spirits of men who are to be judged, and are found under condemnation; 101 And these are the rest of the dead; and they live not again until the thousand years are ended, neither again, until the end of the earth. 102 And another trump shall sound, which is the fourth trump, saying: There are found among those who a are to remain until that great and last day, even the end, who shall remain filthy still. 103 And another trump shall sound, which is the fifth trump, which is the fifth angel who committeth the everlasting gospel—flying through the midst of heaven, unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people; 104 And this shall be the sound of his trump, saying to all people, both in heaven and in earth, and that are under the earth—for every ear shall hear it, and every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess, while they hear the sound of the trump, saying: Fear God, and give glory to him who sitteth upon the throne, forever and ever; for the hour of his judgment is come. 105 And again, another angel shall sound his trump, which is the sixth angel, saying: She is fallen who made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication; she is fallen, is fallen! 106 And again, another angel shall sound his trump, which is the seventh angel, saying: It is finished; it is fin it is finished! The Lamb of God hath overcome and trodden the wine-press alone, even the wine-press of the fierceness of the wrath of Almighty God. 107 And then shall the angels be crowned with the glory of his might, and the saints shall be filled with his glory, and receive their inheritance and be made equal with him. 108 And then shall the first angel again sound his trump in the ears of all living, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the mighty works of God in the first thousand years. 109 And then shall the second angel sound his trump, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the thoughts and intents of their hearts, and the mighty works of God in the second thousand years— 110 And so on, until the seventh angel shall sound his trump; and he shall stand forth upon the land and upon the sea, and swear in the name of him who sitteth upon the throne, that there shall be time no longer; and Satan shall be bound, that old serpent, who is called the devil, and shall not b loosed for the space of a thousand years. 111 And then he shall be loosed for a little season, that he may gather together his armies. 112 And Michael, the seventh angel, even the archangel, shall gather together his armies, even the hosts of heaven. 113 And the devil shall gather together his armies; even the hosts of hell, and shall come up to battle against Michael and his armies. 114 And then cometh the battle of the great God; and the devil and his armies shall be cast away into their own place, that they shall not have power over the saints any more at all. 115 For Michael shall fight their battles, and shall overcome him who seeketh the throne of him who sitteth upon the throne, even the Lamb. 116 This is the glory of God, and the sanctified; and they shall not any more see death. 117 Therefore, verily I say unto you, my friends, call your solemn assembly, as I have commanded you. 118 And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another wor words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith. 119 Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God; 120 That your incomings may be in the name of the Lord; that your outgoings may be in the name of the Lord; that all your salutations may be in the name of the Lord, with uplifted hands unto the Most High. 121 Therefore, cease from all your light speeches, from all laughter, from all your lustful desires, from all your pride and light-mindedness, and from all your wicked doings. 122 Appoint among yourselves a teacher, and let not all be spokesmen at once; but let one speak at a time and let all listen unto his sayings, that when all have spoken that all may be edified of all, and that every man may have an equal privilege. 123 See that ye love one one another; cease to be covetous; learn to impart one to another as the gospel requires. 124 Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated. 125 And above all things, clothe yourselves with the bond of charity, as with a mantle, which is the bond of perfectness and peace. 126 Pray always, that ye may not faint, until I come. Behold, and lo, I will come quickly, and receive you unto myself. Amen. 127 And again, the order of the house prepared for the presidency of the school of the prophets, established for their instruction in all things that are expedient for them, even for all the officers of the church, or in other words, those who are called to the ministry in the church, beginning at the high priests, even down to the deacons— 128 And this shall be the order of the house of the presid presidency of the school: He that is appointed to be president, or teacher, shall be found standing in his place, in the house which shall be prepared for him. 129 Therefore, he shall be first in the house of God, in a place that the congregation in the house may hear his words carefully and distinctly, not with loud speech. 130 And when he cometh into the house of God, for he should be first in the house—behold, this is beautiful, that he may be an example— 131 Let him offer himself in prayer upon his knees before God, in token or remembrance of the everlasting covenant. 132 And when any shall come in after him, let the teacher arise, and, with uplifted hands to heaven, yea, even directly, salute his brother or brethren with these words: 133 Art thou a brother or brethren? I salute you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, in token or remembrance of the everlasting covenant, in which covenant I receive you to fellowship, in a determination that is fixed, immovable, and unchangeable, to be your friend and brother through the grace of God in the bonds of love, to walk in all the commandments of God blameless, in thanksgiving, forever and ever. Amen. 134 And he that is found unworthy of this salutation shall not have place among you; for ye shall not suffer that mine house shall be polluted by him. 135 And he that cometh in and is faithful before me, and is a brother, or if they be brethren, they shall salute the president or teacher with uplifted hands to heaven, with this same prayer and covenant, or by saying Amen, in token of the same. 136 Behold, verily, I say unto you, this is an ensample unto you for a salutation to one another in the house of God, in the school of the prophets. 137 And ye are called to do this by prayer and thanksgiving, as the Spirit shall give utterance in all your doings in the house of the Lord, in the school of the prophets, that it may become a sanctuary, a tabernacle of the Holy Spirit to your edification. 138 And ye shall not receive any among you into this school save he is clean from the blood of this generation; 139 And he shall be received by the ordinance of the washing of feet, for unto this end was the ordinance of the washing of feet instituted. 140 And again, the ordinance of washing feet is to be administered by the president, or presiding elder of the church. 141 It is to be commenced with prayer; and after partaking of bread and wine, he is to gird himself according to the pattern given in the thirteenth chapter of John’s testimony concerning me. Amen.
team "inspiration" ideas? help!? before our soccer games, someone brings in something for the team. its supposed to...well i'm not quite sure. for example. once a girl brought a tampon, and linked it to us team mates being each other's backup. - a pacifier was used to say that we need to stop out whining and play the game -one girl put keys on our school's color ribbons, and said confidence was the key to success. i need examples like this! mine is the second to last game, so you could possibly link it to it being the end of the season, or something like that. also, it is common for girls to write a quote on something, and we put it on our bags. that could work too. something creative please (: i'm out of ideas!
How can we Help Indian Investors? Stock market is a place where investor comes to be rich quickly, because they think it needs only one's capital. Our study of most successful investors such as Warren Buffet, tells us the amount of time they spend on studying companies, in order to be successful. In fact there is a quote from warren buffet "People read play boy and i read annual reports". In our opinion key of success in stock market is combination of two, stock picks and timing for entry and exit. Even if one picked the right stock but could not time it correctly, then also one will make money in long run but if one is relying on timing only then it is just one's sheer luck if they make money in long run. Stock pick we mean the stock selection based on its earning power, market valuation, future prospects of company based on changes in company business plans etc, and not just based on its trading behavior. Stock market value the company based on its future earning power and not past. All the investors even company management makes guess or estimates about earning and value the company based on estimates. If company delivers the results which matches or go beyond investors expectation then stock rise, other wise it tanks. Past financial performance of company helps investor understand the management effectiveness and also guide map of future expected earning, because most of the investors don't have details of company business plan. Many times media and vested interest raise investor's expectation about the company's earning in order to exploit their money. We had seen in the past how Harshad mehta and Ketan parikh has exploited investors. Apart from news and latest developments other effective way to find good stocks is screening of stocks based on past financial data, such as low PE stocks, High profit Margin stocks, High Growth and low valuation stocks, low market Cap/ Sales ratio, low price to book value ratio. etc. Askkuber provides easy way to dig data with any combination of investment strategy. One can use ExploreCompany page for this purpose. Other aspect of stock search is to compare various alternatives side by side from various prespective such financial info and also price performance. AskKuber provide interface to compare all the information of companies side by side. Let us take a example if someone suggest Reliance Communications to me because its PE is low 11 as compared to its peers such as Bharti (PE=20), then we have to compare all other information why PE is low. On detailed comparison we found that Reliance has three times more debt then Bharti. Now questions is how to figure out impact of debt on valuation. Now let us assume that debt holders got converted to equity holder at todays price (which is very optimistic assumption, generally debt holder will get shares at lesser price). So in case of reliance debt is 31% of market cap so equity EPS will be diluted by 31% hence new PE will be 11%1.31=14.41. Next thing we have to compare growth rate of Reliance with Bharti. We found Bharti profit is growing 3 times faster then reliance. Hence their high valuation is justified. If one is not satisfied here then one should evaluate other industry specific parameters such as subscriber base and subscriber profit margin etc. By this example we want to illustrate when want to make a decision dissect it from all angles before taking a position. What do you think about my scholarship essay? The topic is :What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or that college is a waste of time and money? Education does not matter! Is this a serious question, of course education matters! For people like my parents it matters, they did not have the opportunity to go to school. My dad was forced to work at my granpa's farm at the meager age of seven, he did not recieve the chance to even finish elementary. My mom also had to quit school and sell fruits and vegetables in her "pueblo" or town to help her family of fourteen survive. My point is, they didn't have the opportunity to succeed in school as we do. We live in the United States of America and boy do I feel lucky and honored to have the opportunity to learn for FREE in this wonderful country! Simple and easy, if you want to live a good life and help others, education is the key to success! Don't ever think or say it is a waste of time or money because there are thousands or great people and sponsors out there who do care about you! They want you to succeed and be the best you can be! Only in America are there people kind and willing enough to give you money to succeed. You must not only believe it will happen but also own it. What always keeps me going, even when I feel like quitting is this wonderful quote, "With ordinary talent and extraordinary perseverance all things are attainable." Believe you can do it, and only then will you achieve it! If you could please tell me if any needs any correction or modifications on grammar. Thank you so much any advice is appreciated, I really do need this essay to be at its best in order to win a scholarship so I may go to college. =]
What do you guys think about these quotes from the Heritage Foundation? Now I'm sure a number of Republicans remember that the Heritage Foundation is that little website that Rush Limbaugh repeatedly insists you spend $25 to join; and that same website that Sean Hannity repeatedly uses to "back" his various claims. This excerpt was written by Stuart Butler (Director of Heritage Foundation's domestic policy studies) and Peter Germanis (a Heritage Foundation analyst) in the (libertarian) Cato Institute Journal: The Title--Achieving a Leninist Strategy "Lenin believed that Capitalism was doomed by its inherent contradictions, and would inevitably collapse. But just to be on the safe side, he sought to mobilize the working class, in alliance with other key elements in political society, both to hasten the collapse and to ensure that the result conformed with his interpretation of the proletarian state. Unlike many other socialists at the time, Lenin recognized that fundamental change is contingent both upon a movement's ability to create a focused political coalition and upon its success in isolating and weakening opponents. As we contemplate basic reform of the Social Security system, we would do well to draw a few lessons from the Leninist strategy." It would later continue: "From a purely political standpoint, it should be remembered that the elderly represent a very powerful and vocal interest group." Still later in the essay: "What we must do is to construct a coalition that will gain directly from its implementation. that coalition should not only consist of those who will reap benefits from the IRA-based private system Ferrara (a member of the Reagan adminstration) has proposed but also the banks, insurance companies, and other institutions that will gain from providing such plans to the public." In other words, Rush Limbaugh is constantly telling you to join a website that insisted they needed to follow Vladimir Ilyech Ulyanov Lenin (the leader of the Soviet Revolution), Sean Hannity backs up his "info" from that same site, and that site provided a blueprint for what Republicans are trying to do right now in healthcare. REPUBLICANS ARE USING A STRATEGY THAT CAME OUT OF AN ESSAY TITLED "ACHIEVING A LENINIST STRATEGY"!! Considering how Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have said that Obama needs to be impeached for being anywhere near someone they called a Communist (not actually one, just someone they screwed over for personal gain)...shouldn't Rush and Hannity be required to resign in disgrace for their Communist connections? And shouldn't the Heritage Foundation be investigated for Communist links?
How does it look????? Walt Disney was a man of character, humor, and life, but those traits weren’t the key to his success. Disney was able to see the world in a different way. Whether it was a talking mouse or paying the month’s rent, Disney always strove and worked for the best for what he believed in. Disney was one of the most influential men in history, and all it took was a grin, charisma, and an extravagant imagination. Walt Disney Changed the world of film forever, because of his perseverance, youthfulness, and inspiration.The reason why many people don’t become who they want to be because they don’t persevere. Disney worked amazingly hard to get to the top, as the author states “He was born into a poverty, even more dire emotionally then it was economically.” (Schickel/10) Despite the fact times were hard for Disney, he was able to look over his loss and gain from his love of art and comedy. Most famous people today come from or are connected to the rich and famous, while as Disney worked up from poverty to be one of the most successful men in history. “Reduced to living in his studio and eating cold beans out of a can, Disney endured the hard times any worthwhile success story demands(Schickel/13). Disney’s story was different then today’s stories it shows how he wasn’t a natural success, he was human and made mistakes along the way. When we grow up we lose a special part of us. We lose our imagination and our childlike ways that made us unique. We see how Disney was able to keep that innocence in the following quote by Brad A. (11) “During these ‘care free years’ of country living, young Walt began to love an appreciate nature and wildlife, and family and community which were a large part of living.” Disney’s care free spirit gave him the ability to love and appreciate the world around him. With Disney’s youthful imagination he was able to come up with some of the most inspiring films of all time. They made you think about the world and how you perceive it. “He personally directed the design of an experimental prototype community of tomorrow (EPCOT) It was planned as a living showcase for the creativity of American industry.” (Brad A. / 29) Disney was already thinking of the future. By building EPCOT, we could see the future through Disney’s eyes. Disney’s youthfulness combined with his creativity made an amazing futuristic building. His idea was unique and unlike any other idea of the future. Kids and adults today still go to EPCOT to see a future like any other. We all need role models in our life and Disney could defiantly qualify. He was an inspiration to many. “Instead of socializing with the whos who of the Hollywood entertainment industry, he would stay home and have dinner with his wife, Lillian, and his daughter s Diane and Sharon.” A. (11) I look up to people who arrant the most popular and who sacrifice fame for their family. This is one reason Disney is such an inspiration. Many find it amazing how Disney was able to stay low and still be so successful. He shows us that you can live a normal life and still be famous. “He left his stamp on animated features that still engage modern children and inspired the recent new wave of Disney cartoon successes” Disney was a kind, antiwar, world loving man. He is an inspiration because of his values and outstanding movies. If we all thought like Disney, the world would be a better place. His daring tactics and whimsical stories changed the world forever. He made us see things differently.With his perseverance, youthfulness, and inspiration, Disney changed the world of film forever. Disney is the greatest film maker of all time. It is a shame to see how an innocent dreams lead to a greedy franchise within 30 years. We may not still have Disney here to stop it, but we will always have his inspiring movies that the world will cherish for years to come. can anyone help with my quote citation ??
what do these quotes mean? 6. “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”-Eddie Robinson 7. “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, learning from failure.”-Colin Powell 8. “There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs.”-Author Unknown 9. “Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.”-Robert Schuller 10. “Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”-Joshua Marine
Can you help explain this quote to me? I think I know what shes saying I just don't know how to put it into words. “The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance – and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.” - Oprah winfrey
Can you take a look at my speech and let me know how I can improve it? “There are three ingredients to the good life, learning, earning and yearning,” a quote by a famous American journalist named Christopher Morley. We learn about subjects such as trigonometry and political science and discover what educational courses we want to reach. In which the outcome could one day earn us acceptance letters from the best schools in the nation. And we yearn for more success along the way. These words helped me maintain the mental image of becoming successful and to prove those who lacked confidence in me, wrong. In September of 2005, my journey began. A young perplexed girl who didn’t appreciate the significance of education, instead wanted to be “cool.” I went from one school to another, dissatisfaction to dissatisfaction, and almost ready to give up. Then a close friend illuminated the idea of improving my education here at Opportunities for Learning. My experience throughout my time here opened my eyes to see the value of education. It has helped me become self-motivated, and although it was a long process of perseverance, determination, and hard work, I wouldn’t be standing here in front of you today without my actions. My teacher Danielle had several talks with me at times about how important school should be to me. But If it’s one thing I remember about Danielle is the time she told me she saw so much potential in me, and in my fellow classmates. She would have to remind about it every time I seemed to be slacking off in school. Sometimes she asked me why I wasn’t focused, and when I explained myself to her, I realized how inadequate my excuses were. We’ve all heard that education is the key to all success, and while most of us agree, there are some who don’t. They say the world’s most successful people never even finished college. I’m sure at some point, we have all let that occupy our minds, but luckily for me, it wasn’t too late to let go of that thought. I stopped having that mentality as soon as I faced reality. I comprehended that the majority of successful people who decided not to finish college made so much money because someone important recognized them. There are millions of extremely brilliant, interesting and talented people who have all that it takes, but didn’t make it because they weren’t introduced to the right people.. It’s all about networking, but can we all take that risk of letting go of all the hard work and depend on luck? What if that plan doesn’t work? Do we have a college degree to fall back on? Some very rich people have little education yet continue to succeed in life yet these are unique people. Not everyone is able to succeed like those people, most need education to guide and strengthen his/her natural abilities. Education provides a way for intelligent people to ascend above his/her peers and be successful. Education guides people toward success by accenting their traits of triumph. The Opportunities for Learning staff helped me realize that. There are going to come times when we fail, fall, break or give up, times when opportunities seem out of reach, times when people will say “no,” but mark my words, someone is going to say yes. Congratulations class of 09, follow your dreams and don’t stop until you get there! BY:NAOMI
I need help with the correction of my grammer and structure.? I've to write an application essay to submit with my application for a international business course. I need helps from someone the read through my essay and correct it and give my some ideas to improve it!!:(. Thanks in advanced. "Why I have chosen to study the area of international business for my future career" I found a great interest beneath me since I was in secondary school. I followed my dad to his company, attended meetings, and provided ideas. In high school, I was certain that business is what I want to involve myself in my future career and therefore I chose commerce stream. I admire successful entrepreneurs and always wonder what they did to be so successful. From my admiration i lerned that setting up a strong foundation is one of the most important keys to be success. By getting a degree in International Business helps me to strengthen the fundamentals of my knowledge in business. "Nothing is as practical as a good theory"-Kurt Lewin I do agree with the above quote from Kurt Lewin. People often said that practical experiece is more important than theoretical knowledge, but I believe that both practical and theory play the same important role. Theory helps one to prevent from making unwanted mistakes and practical helps to develope a business with the help of theory. What amazes me is the international business course provided by ESB Reutlingen combines both practical and theoretical knowledge to prepare me for the inherent challenges of doing business across national borders. As said above "across the national borders". The word "International" brings the business course to a whole new level. I do understand in order to compete in this raidly changing commercial world, one has to have a solid understanding of how a business operates internationally, without borders. The customs and business ettiquete are vary in every countries and international business prepares me to deal with it efficiently. Additionally I truly believe that no matter whatever career path one chooses, it will still likely involve some aspects of business. Consider any pofession from hawkers to doctors, teachers to police officers. Significantly they should understand how business works. Assuming that I changed my mind in the future to be a chef cook, I can still be a successful chef cook by implying my knowledge of business to develop my restaurant.
How is this essay I typed? 123456? James Fenimore Cooper produces a series of novels known as "The Leatherstocking Tales" depicting the adventures of Hawk eye, a white man raced by idians and his involvement with the activities of the Americans who built the frontier towns and drove the indians and there culture, out. James Coopers wealth of knowledge in history and folklore made these books amazing works of art and are considered American Classics. The Last of the Mohicans, the most famous book of the series puts Hawkeye right in the middle of the Massacre of Fort William Henry in 1757, while addressing the issues of interracial relationships, and the white mans view of the Indians. The book was adapted to several films which were reproduced and even made into a mini-series. They provide a view into the mindset of the time and all show the attitude toward settlement of the American frontier at the time, while including religous, romantic and other aspects of Hawkeyes life. James Fenimore Cooper suggests that interracial mingling is both desirable and dangerous. He shows the realtionship between Hawkeye, a white man and Chingachgook, a Mohican Indian. There bond threw there knowledge of nature enables them to transcend race, team up against the Huron Tribe,to fight with the white man. One of the prevailing themes is that nature brings all the men together in a battle field not at all like the ones of Europe, adds danger and even more challenge to the battles going on around them. The Europeans, being used to the flat laid out battle fields, tatics prove to old for the new war style, arena, and oppenent. In the movie, it seems that the mens skills in the woods reflect there all around character. Hawkeye, the protaginist of the story, has a respect and admiration for the woods, understanding its workings, and being able to us it to his advantage. Duncan's misunderstanding of the woods shows his obvious incompetence toward leading. The story also displays interracial romantic relationships as doomed and undesirable. The interracial love of Uncas and Alice ends in tragedy. The issue of interacial relationships is still around today, a taboo that in recent times is seeming more easily broken in America then ever before. During the French Indian War, in which this story takes place France, England, and there Indians allies were fighting for control of America. The indians choice alliances based on neccesity and the thought that if on the winning side, they would recieve better treatment. This was a misconception that would eventually lead to the near complete destruction of there culture and people.The title forshadows the tragedy of the film. Although the title specifically refers to Chingachgook, it also alludes to a much larger event: the murderous removal of the Indians by President Andrew Jackson’s policies of the 1830s. The book was written in this time period and reflects the extermination of the culture native toward America. Also during the time period of the novel, interacial marriage between Indians and Whites were allowed by many states, while black and white marriage was not. This is an idea streching far threw out American history and did not change for some time. The frontier is another key theme in the movie, resembling the fresh start and feeling in the new world. Another issue addressed is the old religons of Europe had no place in the new land, Calvinism, no longer had its place. Only threw hard work could you achieve success in this new world. The Indians alliances also drew from economical alliances with Indians. The English and French both traded with Indians, this helped shaped the alliances they formed threwout the fighting. The French Indian War, was a chapter of the seven year war, a global war that all of Europe was participating in. Hawkeye: Chingachgook told me, "Don't try to understand them; and don't try to make them understand you. For they are a breed apart and make no sense." A quote from the movie about the white people accoring to hawkeyes father Chingachogook. This was true of the time period, the Indians could not understand the new settles or there ways. The whole movie is a story around a key battle in the war for america. Showing its historical accuracy threw the battle resulting in the French victory, and eventullay British massacre.
If this "No Fly Zone" resolution was put in place in 2005, why was it still being discussed in the Dem. Debate If this "No Fly Zone" resolution was put in place in 2005, why was it still being discussed in the Dem. Debates recently in 2007? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Boxer In March 2005 the Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed Boxer's amendment to the Foreign Affairs Reauthorization Bill strongly urging Saudi Arabia to permit women to run for office and vote in all future elections. Boxer is a cosponsor of S. 495, or the Darfur Accountability Act of 2005, which would impose sanctions against perpetrators of crimes against humanity in Darfur. Sanctions under this legislation include imposition of a military no-fly zone in Darfur, a coordinated effort between the U.S. and Sudanese governments to track down and prosecute individuals in Sudan in any way involved with genocide or other war crimes in Darfur, a call for the Sudanese Government to take an active roll in combating Janjaweed forces within its borders, and a policy of sanctions against the Sudanese government, including sanctions that will affect the petroleum sector, and individual members of the Sudanese government whose actions support the crimes of violent militias in Darfur. Khartoum is also where the CIA hunted bin-laden according to the book "Hunting the Jackal" (militarybookclub.com). China's involvement in acquiring oil in areas where it is politically unsavory for the U.S. gives them a strategic advantage in every anti-U.S. country (like Venezuela) in the world. Energy Security (wikipedia.org) becomes of grave concerns as we are 5% of the worlds population, use 25% of the worlds energy and 40% of the worlds petrol products. tim trevathan <trevathantim@yahoo.com> wrote: http://www.gvnews.net/html/Corp/newsfeed.html HOME | ABOUT GVNN | OUR PHILOSOPHY | GVNN IN THE NEWS | REGISTER | CONTACT US HOME | ABOUT GVNN | OUR PHILOSOPHY | GVNN IN THE NEWS | REGISTER | CONTACT US October 25, 2005 Subscribe to GVNN Global News Feed A powerful, real-time news wire delivered directly to subscriber desktops. Op-Ed In Khartoum's Oil Pipelines Flow Blood By Peter Wanbali The Nation KHARTOUM, May 21, 2002 -- Two documents on the Sudan released almost simultaneously last week expose the complexities and contradictions inherent in the search for peace in that country's conflict that has lasted two decades, killed two million people, displaced 4.5 million others and burnt hundreds of billions of dollars. And nowhere is this more dramatic than in the reports' treatment of the role of oil in the war between the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and its allies, and the Government of Sudan GOS. The first report, Depopulating Sudan's Oil Regions, is written by Diane deGuzman for the European Coalition on Oil in Sudan. It is a searing condemnation of the GOS strategy to strafe civilian populated regions in South Sudan for the express purpose of clearing the regions for oil drilling work to either start or continue. It documents atrocities against the civilians starting from October 2001, when the GOS launched an offensive in the southeast part of Ruweng County, in oil concession Block 2. Although no SPLA troops were on the ground, the report says that the villages between Jukabar and Bal were bombarded from the air, with ground troops moving in to mop up. Many were killed and those lucky to survive now huddle in swampland to the northeast and southeast of the county. Timing too fortuitous to be coincidental Within a month of the clearing up of the region, the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company (GNPOC), comprising Talisman Energy, Chinese National Petroleum Corporation, Petronas Carigali and Sudapet, moved a drilling rig into the area. The timing of the raid and the decision by GNPOC was too fortuitous to be coincidental. The report also documents another raid that by mid-February this year had depopulated the northern part of Block 5A, in Western Upper Nile. The two campaigns by the GOS have displaced an estimated 80,000 people from Ruweng County and another 50,000 from the Western Upper Nile, who are now forced to wander in search of food, safety and shelter. Harrowing quotes from men and women who lost loved ones during the raids make for very sober reading, very much in the vein of two earlier reports: The Scorched Earth by Christian Aid in 2000, and Report of an Investigation into Oil Development, Conflict and Displacement in Western Upper Nile, released mid-last year by Georgette Gagnon and John Ryle. The second report released this month was Sen John C. Danforth's memo to the US President. Mr Danforth was appointed Special Envoy for Peace in the Sudan in late 2000 and this is a report on his mission. Several observations stand out, not least his advice that there should be no more new US-led initiatives. Rather, the US should engage more actively bilaterally in the Sudan and that increased support should be offered to existing initiatives like the Kenya-led IGAD peace process and the Egyptian-led Joint Initiative (with Libya). Sen Danforth details four "tests" of will that he subjected the GOS and the SPLA to, whose results were the basis of his guarded optimism. One was demand for a cease-fire and setting up of a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation programme for the devastated Nuba Mountains region; the second was observing days of tranquillity to allow relief agencies work on programmes to eradicate polio, guinea worm and bovine rinderpest. The third was prevention of intentional, wanton attacks (often by government) against innocent civilians and fourth was a proposal to the GOS to strengthen the effectiveness of its own anti-slavery commission. He claims varying degrees of success in these tests. Although Sen Danforth acknowledges that any movement forward must grapple with the thorny issues of self-determination for South Sudan, governance, religion and oil, his analysis of how oil features in the cauldron is perverse. His suggestion that a formula should be worked out for sharing the oil revenue between the GOS and the SPLA is both bizarre and impracticable. Renewed confidence The oil revenue, about $2 million every day, has given GOS renewed confidence and apart from enabling it increase its fighting efficiency, will soon become a significant cause for the war. For the process of peace to move forward - even with renewed vigour from the US and a boost to the sub-regional initiatives - the oil booty must be made a non-issue in the process. Companies like the GNPOC consortium must be prevailed upon to exercise some moral influence on the government and stop pretending that they do not see or care about what their money is financing in the Sudan. Countries like Kenya should also rethink the ridiculous posturing they are involved in - on the one hand acting as concerned mediators and peace-makers while on the other hand they are key customers buying the oil and financing the war. Ultimately, UN sanctions would be considered against all parties involved even if such penalties have not been great successes in the past. This clearly, is a hard number to push when there is so little moral firepower left for the US to expend - see what it did with Nigeria and Angola even at the height of human rights atrocities in those countries. These two reports do not give cause for hope that south Sudan's long walk out of the swamps and depths of despair it has been forced into will be ending any time soon. © The Nation, 2002. Alicia Keys.. beautiful and a good musician... but whacko in the head? Yes or No? http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080411/D8VVUAHG0.html NEW YORK (AP) - There's another side to Alicia Keys: conspiracy theorist. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "'Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap' didn't exist." Keys, 27, said she's read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing 'em dead," according to an interview in the magazine's May issue, on newsstands Tuesday. Another of her theories: That the bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing." Keys' AK-47 jewelry came as a surprise to her mother, who is quoted as telling Blender: "She wears what? That doesn't sound like Alicia." Keys' publicist, Theola Borden, said Keys was on vacation and unavailable for comment. Though she's known for her romantic tunes, she told Blender that she wants to write more political songs. If black leaders such as the late Black Panther Huey Newton "had the outlets our musicians have today, it'd be global. I have to figure out a way to do it myself," she said. The multiplatinum songstress behind the hits "Fallin'" and "No One" most recently had success with her latest CD, "As I Am," which sold millions. Reply to second responder.... Let's see......... The multiplatinum songstress behind the hits "Fallin'" and "No One" most recently had success with her latest CD, "As I Am," which sold millions.

Will you read my Pride and Prejudice essay and let me know what you think? The directions for this assignment was to compare the poem Habitation and the book Pride and Prejudice with just the passages given to us to make an essay. We were told to use transitions, and that was basically the rules for it. It is an honors english course so the directions are vague. I did hand this essay in when it was due, and I got a one hundred, but I was wondering if there was anything you think that I could improve on. Thanks! (Habitation poem link -- http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/habitation/ ) And do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better of for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, for love… or for just the sake of marriage? In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen creates characters that believe in both happiness in marriage and chance at love. Margaret Atwood uses symbolism to shine light on the harsh truth of marriage in her poem “Habitation”. She also explains the effort that needs to be done in order for it to be prosperous in success. Both authors have exclusive views about marriage and describe the perspectives using literary elements to enhance the meanings. According to Charlotte Lucas from Pride and Prejudice, “Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance.” She believes that all of the tiresome work of getting to know a person is truly not worth it. The poem “Habitation” however, does. Margaret Atwood explains that sharing your life with someone else’s is hard; in order to keep the peace, work needs to be done for it to be successful. The quote from the poem is “the unpainted stairs at the back where we squat outside,” uses symbolism. The “unpainted stairs” represents the work that needs to be done on the marriage. In more ways than can be explained, marriage can be compared to making a fire. You can use matches; it makes fire fast, and with light work. Or, you can challenge yourself with sticks. Scraping sticks together can be hard work but what you put into it gives back self satisfaction. The first people to discover fire were the cave men. They were determined to make something out of nothing. In the poem “Habitation” the last line reads “We are learning to make fire.” The fire in the poem represents love; the couple works together breaking the barrier of darkness to achieve love. Elizabeth states “I am determined that nothing but the deepest love could ever induce me into matrimony.” She understands that you need to love each other in order for your relationship to be a success and doesn’t want to rush into anything that will risk her chance at happiness. Both writings want to achieve light and warmth through the fire. Before the fire is started, cold is settled. In the poem, it states “It is before that, and colder.” The cold is in the relationship; it’s before you get to know that person the relationship heats up. This attitude is also presented in Pride and Prejudice when Mrs. Bennet does not understand this concept. Mrs. Bennet explains the situation to her husband – “Lizzy declares she will not have Mr. Collins and Mr. Collins begins to say that he will not have Lizzy.” Both Lizzy and Mr. Collins have just met; their relationship is cold. Lizzy could never marry someone unless the true “warmth” in a relationship was present. Shelter: (shel-TER) – noun: a dwelling place or home considered as a refuge from elements – see marriage. In the first sentence of “Habitation” reads “Marriage not a house or even a tent.” The writer, Margaret, crushes the naive, sugar-coated idea of marriage with the click of her pen. She gives the bitter reality using a metaphor in her poem; marriage is not a shelter. It is not a warm, welcoming home to crawl to after a long days work. It’s a constant battle consisting of fear, needing to be fed determination, not just hope. To Mrs. Bennet, marriage is the goal; the key to all happiness for her daughters. She says “If I can but see one of my daughters happily settled at Nether field, and all the others equally well married, I shall have nothing to wish for.” She believes that after her daughters marry that they will be forever blessed with bliss and everything will fall into place, being taken care of. The sharp reality differs from Mrs. Bennet’s view because marriage is not a fantasy fable. If marriage is so laborious, so unbearable sometimes then why bother? If recurrently relationships spark and die out, why do we chase it like fireflies a crossed a black canvas? Pride and Prejudice and the poem “Habitation” both have similar and completely opposite ides on the structure of a marriage. Both writings use literary elements to prove their points on marriage either being a fairytale straight from the Enchanted Forest , or the crimes of the villainous step-mother.
Obama's Pastor Circulates Hamas Manifesto, What do you all think about this? By Aaron Klein JERUSALEM – Sen. Barack Obama's Chicago church reprinted a manifesto by Hamas that defended terrorism as legitimate resistance, refused to recognize the right of Israel to exist and compared the terror group's official charter – which calls for the murder of Jews – to America's Declaration of Independence. The Hamas piece was published on the "Pastor's Page" of the Trinity United Church of Christ newsletter reserved for Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose anti-American, anti-Israel remarks landed Obama in hot water, prompting the presidential candidate to deliver a major race speech earlier this week. Hamas, responsible for scores of shootings, suicide bombings and rocket launchings against civilian population centers, is listed as a terrorist group by the U.S. State Department. The revelation follows a recent WND article quoting Israeli security officials who expressed "concern" about Robert Malley, an adviser to Obama who has advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the terrorist group. In his July 22, 2007, church newsletter, Wright reprinted an article by Mousa Abu Marzook, identified in the publication as a "deputy of the political bureau of Hamas." A photo image of the piece was captured and posted today by the business blog BizzyBlog, which first brought attention to it. The Hamas article was first published by the Los Angeles Times, garnering the newspaper much criticism. According to senior Israeli security officials, Marzook, who resides in Syria alongside Hamas chieftain Khaled Meshaal, is considered the "brains" behind Hamas, designing much of the terror group's policies and ideology. Israel possesses what it says is a large volume of specific evidence that Marzook has been directly involved in calling for or planning scores of Hamas terrorist offensives, including deadly suicide bombings. He was also accused of attempting to set up a Hamas network in the U.S. Marzook's original piece was titled, "Hamas' stand" but was re-titled "A Fresh View of the Palestinian Struggle" by Obama's church newsletter. The newsletter also referred to Hamas as the "Islamic Resistance Movement," and added in its introduction that Marzook was addressing Hamas' goals for "all of Palestine." In the manifesto, Marzook refers to Hamas' "resistance" – the group's perpetuation of anti-Israel terrorism targeting civilians – as "legal resistance," which, he argues, is "explicitly supported by the Fourth Geneva Convention." The Convention, which refers to the rights of people living under occupation, does not support suicide bombings or rocket attacks against civilian population centers, the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America noted. Marzook refers to Hamas' official charter as "an essentially revolutionary document" and compares the violent creed to the Declaration of Independence, which, Marzook states, "simply did not countenance any such status for the 700,000 African slaves at that time." Hamas' charter calls for the murder of Jews. Among its platforms is a statement that the "[resurrection] will not take place until the Muslims fight the Jews and the Muslims kill them, and the rock and the tree will say: 'Oh Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, kill him!'" In his piece, Marzook says Hamas only targets Israel and denies that Hamas' war is meant to be waged against the U.S., even though Hamas officials have threatened America, and Hamas' charter calls for Muslims to "pursue the cause of the Movement (Hamas), all over the globe." Trinity Church did not respond to a phone message requesting comment. Obama's campaign also did not reply to phone and e-mail requests today for comment. Obama aide wants talks with terrorists WND reported in January that Malley, an Obama foreign policy adviser, has penned numerous opinion articles, many of them co-written with a former adviser to the late Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, petitioning for dialogue with Hamas and blasting Israel for policies he says harm the Palestinian cause. Malley also previously penned a well-circulated New York Review of Books piece largely blaming Israel for the collapse of the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations at Camp David in 2000 when Arafat turned down a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and eastern sections of Jerusalem and instead returned to the Middle East to launch an intifada, or terrorist campaign, against the Jewish state. Malley's contentions have been strongly refuted by key participants at Camp David, including President Clinton, then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and primary U.S. envoy to the Middle East Dennis Ross, all of whom squarely blamed Arafat's refusal to make peace for the talks' failure. In February 2006, after Hamas won a majority of seats in the Palestinian parliament and amid a U.S. and Israeli attempt to isolate the Hamas-run Palestinian Authority, Malley wrote an op-ed for the Baltimore Sun advocating international aid to the terror group's newly formed government. "The Islamists (Hamas) ran on a campaign of effective government and promised to improve Palestinians' lives; they cannot do that if the international community turns its back," wrote Malley in a piece entitled, "Making the Best of Hamas' Victory." Malley contended the election of Hamas expressed Palestinian "anger at years of humiliation and loss of self-respect because of Israeli settlement expansion, Arafat's imprisonment, Israel's incursions, Western lecturing and, most recently and tellingly, the threat of an aid cutoff in the event of an Islamist success." Malley said the U.S. should not "discourage third-party unofficial contacts with [Hamas] in an attempt to moderate it." In an op-ed in the Washington Post in January coauthored by Arafat adviser Hussein Agha, Malley – using what could be perceived as anti-Israel language – urged Israel's negotiating partner, Abbas, to reunite with Hamas. "A renewed national compact and the return of Hamas to the political fold would upset Israel's strategy of perpetuating Palestinian geographic and political division," wrote Malley. He further petitioned Israel to hold talks with Hamas. "An arrangement between Israel and Hamas could advance both sides' interests," Malley wrote. In numerous other op-eds, Malley advocated a policy of engagement with Hamas.
Is this Essay good. Found it on the Internet.? The life of one person is a precious pearl of wisdom, passion, love, and guidens which allows us to seek the truth, and refuge of everyday life. The novels “The Black Echo” and “By The Cold River” display the hardship and struggles of abiding by the rules of everyday life which concurs to the beliefs of the criminal life; which eventually leads to a death of an individual. “The Black Echo” presents the rise and fall of an individual in the criminal life more effectively than “By The Cold River”, and is a much greater example of one’s struggle to determine their identity in constant masses of mental suffering which can be seen through the stages of mental and physical suffering, the evolution and the destruction of a characters beliefs through his unimaginable mindset. The justification of beliefs through the process of mind vision alone is tempting to the fact that uncharitable and unreliable credibility can be mounted and brought up to one’s judgment. In the case of Harry Bosch in the novel “The Black Echo”, Bosch deals with a lot of secondary distractions which lead to an excess of uncanny decisions that ultimately leads to his failure as a lone just detective with moral rights. “You mean the window? I’m not here about that.” This quote exemplifies the distress Harry is feeling during the time of his best friend’s death; he can t seem to cope with the loss and is suffering mentally due to seeing the world surrounding him one dimensionally instead of praising the surroundings with open arms. The hardship of having to deal with emotional and mental struggles each and every single day is tedious and harmful to your mental and physical being in every shape and form. From day one the self conceived “Tunnel Rat” Harry Bosch was alone, isolated, and bridged from the rest of society. The belief to air out suggestions and dismantle ongoing connections from his surroundings, has succumbed and strained Bosch to a minimum, with only a few shreds of belongings to his aid. The mindset of philosophical vision can be attributed to such techniques exhibited by Bosch during his outcry, do discover the mysterious death of long time “Tunnel Rat” friend Ralph Cupperd, only to slowly become more devious and hateful to others during his long quest of hardship and delight for others. Stages of mental suffering can vary on the strength of one’s being or self, Harry Bosch manages to deal with his suffering with anger, full throttle, and revenge of others on a prominent case he feels needed to bring himself back to life. The dilemma of a person is an eventful stage in life without sole purpose to one’s sacred being as presented by the setting of the novel, which takes place on the outskirts of New York City. The general idea of post-cold war New York with a delusional and misunderstood Harry Bosch have led him to believe that he is just an illusion of his afterthoughts, or a product of nothing but a set of cold ashes on the floor. The evolution of Harry Bosch’s Character from a smear savvy being to a heartless, vengeful, and fearless being has made him realize the understanding of the setting around him in order to graze and relish the time of luck and charm against tough love, and hard chances on the streets of New York. The high risk of understanding what needs to be done can elude one from the promising challenges in life as attributed to Mr.Bosch’s sense of knowledge and understanding through the struggles of others. “As preposterous as I may look and sound I am the legacy of the department”. Bosch is constantly referring to himself as a generally stable person, and the only hope for the LAPD to solve the crime mystery of his late “Tunnel Rat” friend Ralph Cupperd. It is indeed noted in this passage that Bosch is struggling and going through two stages of mental suffering, he is going through internal/external suffering on the basis of Ralph and himself. In order to pursue a solid goal one must struggle to achieve it; in the case of Harry Bosch that task has been succumbed but, incomplete in the challenge of surfacing a prime case against his usual suspects. Bosch is indeed a mystery of illusions that will only be solved with a few cracks, and twirls in the direction and path of salvation even if it means jumping the gun and hording his own life for the sake of the others in his life. To master a plan one must study, elaborate, and set a goal for it as done by detective Harry Bosch. A parallel of commodities can be justified with a choice of power given to one special person on a basis of a mutual agreement. The construction of a suggested basis agreement can be stacked, and destroyed, dependant on the outcome of the heralded situation through long periods of time. The novel “By The Cold River” by Henry Perkins provides key situations where a character endures extreme limits of both physical and mental suffering as especially attributed to Joey Padilla a young sailor. The climatic point in the novel allows us to view the struggles of Joey, but allow us to observe the rise and fall of Joey Padilla. The identity of a person is crucial in identifying their general philosophical views of their surroundings, and their personal beings. The outcry of success or failure is surfaced by the gesture of completion or incompletion, as indicated by Mr. Padilla's movements through the novel. The attempt to save his own life through others has led Mr. Padilla to absorb fruitful, and sorrow reaction from the patriotic nearby towns people in Leigh Port. It’s the sense of dignity but more so pride that causes the downfall of a central character in the midst of moving up the ladder towards the ultimate goal of achieving strength, will, and freedom. The pride of Joey Padila was his sense of greatness, kindness, and, leadership to others. It is the sense of joy to conquer, to set sail or foot on something of value worth greatness in order to feel the anxiety and urge of knowing the moment of truth within or within the value of life itself. “By The Cold River” within itself presents a classic tale of moral values between many righteous people, and their wrong doings of guilt, shame, and, redemption. It is clearly evident that Joey Padilla views his surroundings rather vividly then the reader by attempting to pursued nearby towns people to respect one another, and help release Puddy the local shopkeeper whom is on the road towards exile. The wishes of our hearts, minds, and soul are just a facet of the mind towards the never ending cycle of life which is mind, and self control over one’s being. Discovering a true passion for life is difficult in making equivalent decisions, and hard sought goals to pattern out. The height at which Puddy takes is risky, but comes with a high reward in knowing the sense of joy in completing a task in a troublesome life which has cost him his past with some effect on his future. Mr. Puddy deals with the struggle of the unknown crime, the heinous deed that he was wrongfully framed for absoloutely no cause of fear, “It is I whom must fulfill the requirements of the jury, and move on with their selection” (page 79). Tony Puddy ensures the townspeople, and his lawyers that the truth will most likely be vanquished within the eyes of the ruthless human being who has kept quiet during the whole ordeal, but demands his supporters to move on with their lives in order to live and forget about the past. It is highly ironic to note that the Padilla confession to Mr. Puddy on page 112 is greatly significant in determining the fate of Mr. Puddy on death row; it is the wishful confession of hurtful rumours that has contained Mr. Puddy to become isolated from the rest of society along with his unimaginable mind knowledge which has unfortunately let him down during the times of his trial. The criminal life can lead to serious distress, and loss of words to one’s self, it can also have a much harmful effect to one person’s identity, causing one to pursue a new identity under a new name. The reality can be surprising, truthful, but effective in a hurtful way. It is well known that Mr. Puddy is a drunken alcoholic in a sadistic virtue, but he is seemingly a character with great prosper, and acquainted knowledge of his surroundings which include the towns people of Leigh Port. It was a crucial decision for Joey Padilla to make; the decision of whether to talk to Tony Puddy again or not, or whether to leave Minnesota forever. Indeed Joey acknowledged his own decision, and set off to Vancouver for a stay which could possibly last for millions. “You must go now, take your belongings, and leave I shall not have any part in this anymore” (page 176). Tony Puddy once again persuades Mr. Padilla and his associates to leave Minnesota to catch a flight to Vancouver, which will save him from the chances of exile, and punishment if convicted guilty during the resurrection ceremony of Mr.Puddy himself. Whether it is Joey Padilla, Tony Puddy, or even Doctor Howry, the opportunity of discovering a self –identity is priceless. Without your identity it is quite difficult to succeed in life, but with a certified identity, and a solid background the future is bright, clear, and very shiny. The comparison between two greater sets of characters is quite understandable in the achievements made during their lifetimes. In the novel “The Black Echo”, Harry Bosch is an undervalued type one homicide detective with little or no understanding of his surroundings, which indicates his isolation in greater parts of society. In complete polar similarities Tony Puddy is a drunken alcoholic with little or no room for extra mistakes, which have led him to become a popular symbol amongst the town’s people of both Leigh Port, and Bryland as he faces exile in his own part of the county. The provocative views of nature along with society has greatly affected both Joey Padilla, and Harry Bosch in an uncanny matter. Harry Bosch is similar to a glowing fire on a candle, just when it looks like it will burn out it stays in tact with the melting candle. During his background check for the usual suspects, Harry blurted out a very hard nosed statement about his local people, “ If you hate me that is one thing, but if you hate what I am doing for the sake of this city then thats another”. It is very clear that Harry is a man on a mission to make New York city a better place to live, and eliminate all drug-related gangs from the streets of the city. Whether it is a goal or not Harry's dream of living a good life shall not be forgotten as it is a need he must fulfil if he must deteriate the crime that sent his fellow “tunnel rat” Ralph Cupperd to death. The case of both Harry, and Joey is quite similar; two men coming from two different backgrounds, but with the same objective of trying to free themselves from the rut they got themselves in. In the perspective of Harry Bosch it is more personal, and theoretical then normal, as he has just lost a close friend, and everday mate he can share his troubles with, while Joey Padilla is more of the accused criminal of the public outcry. This may not be a technical fairytale type tragedy, but this is an elusive figure of what can occur, when a person fights fire with fire, only to later figure out that water must be used. The identity of one person is so precious it is like a box of temptations filled with the most glorifying, and resounding colours within them. Without an identity one may not have the pride, and the sense of knowledge to move forward, and strive for the greatest achievement. The struggle attributed to an identity search is more grueling then a scavanger hunt with extra wheels on track due in part, to its safety policy, and security checks. The foundation of life is a realm of knowledge capable of educating the mind with surreal images of our surroundings which can be linked to the understanding of a person's innerself, and moral being. It is not the case of a lost identity, but a case of hardship, and struggle of discovering the meaning of life. The icing on the cake may already have been added without notice, but a true identity always comes with notice.
A few keys for those who don't want people saved in their altar calls? 1. Present an unbalanced message. Only let them see the heart-warming part of God’s character. Preach God’s love but leave out His holiness and justice. That way they’ll think He’ll let them into heaven no matter what. 2. Don’t mention repentance until they’re repeating a “sinner’s prayer.” Just get them to say, “I repent of all my sins” while they’re echoing you. They won’t know what they’re saying and they won’t count the cost. 3. Above all else, be dignified. Don’t get heart to heart with the people. They would get something out of what you said. 4. Skim over the gospel and push the prayer. Pretend the lost naturally understand what Christ has done for them. 5. Preach Jesus as a life enhancer not a life rescuer. Tell them how Jesus can improve their life but don’t show them Jesus as the only One who can save them from Hell. People will think if they reject Him they’re only losing out on a spiritual high. 6. Try to please the people instead of convert them. Tell them what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear. 7. Compromise the message to speed up the process. The Christians who have heard it a hundred times before will be pleased with that. The quicker they get out the quicker they can get to the restaurant. 8. Give them the impression that God is so good He won’t send anyone to hell. Don’t present the whole counsel of God or they might realize He is so good that He’ll see to it that justice is served and that all unrepentant sinners will be punished in the fire that is not quenched. 9. Speak to sinners as though they were saints. They’ll think they’re God’s children instead of the enemies of God they’ve made themselves into because of their sin. You’ll give them false assurance and mislead them. 10. Don’t mention sin or man’s guilt. Resist the urge to explain what Christ came to deliver us from. Don’t show them their need for the Savior. Otherwise it may all make sense. 11. Don’t look to the Bible for the substance of your altar call. Only mimic other preachers with large congregations. 12. Tell the lost not to feel bad about their sins. That way you will work against the Holy Spirit who’s convicting them 13. Whatever you do, never mention Judgment Day. Your audience might take spiritual matters seriously. 14. Tell them Jesus is the only way to heaven but don’t explain why. They may think it’s nothing more than fear tactics and leave offended instead of enlightened. 15. Confuse the call. This is a great way to botch up an altar call. Don’t let people know you’re asking them to commit their life to Christ. Be vague and general in what you’re saying. Neglect to mention following Christ in your evangelistic altar calls and say things like, “If you don’t feel you’re as close to God as possible raise your hand,” “If you feel lonely come to the front for prayer,” “If you want more of God this is your time,” and, “If you have struggles and need the answer come down.” Just get them to raise a hand. That way no one will be able to count the cost and you’ll even get saints to respond to salvation altar calls, making the results look more successful. 16. Only give them half the story. Tell them Jesus died to forgive everyone but overlook the fact that they must personally receive Him to partake of that forgiveness. 17. Present the truth as though it isn’t. Be so funny when you share Christ that you belittle the seriousness of the matter. 18. Preach forgiveness without repentance. That way no one will know how to be forgiven. 19. Be unbiblical. Present repentance and faith as an offer instead of how God does as a command (Acts 17:30). 20. Let them think next Sunday is the day of salvation. Don’t make them feel it’s urgent to respond today. 21. Never warn of hell. Dangle heaven in front of their nose but rarely mention hell, certainly not as much as Jesus did. 22. Only do altar calls inside the church. Never take the gospel where sinners congregate. The lost might get saved. 23. Use churchy terms. Use words like, “saved,” “repent,” and “born again,” without any explanation. That way your hearers won’t comprehend what you’re saying. If they can’t understand it, it’s probable they won’t be changed by it. 24. Give false assurance of salvation to unsaved Christians. Assure church folk that they are saved even if they bear no fruit. So that you don’t offend the unsaved pew warmers never quote 2 Corinthians 13:5: “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith.” You could lose some financial supporters and have to depend on God. 25. Never mention the wrath of God. If you mention it, people might be awakened to flee to Jesus who “saves us from the wrath to come.” ( 1 Thess. 1:10) 26. Study how the apostles preached and witnessed and do the opposite. Don’t explain Jesus’ suffering death on the cross. Otherwise they may think of running to Him for forgiveness. Don’t speak of His burial or resurrection or they might realize He is God. Refrain from commenting about the hundreds of eyewitnesses who saw Jesus after He rose from the dead. That way they can go on thinking He’s a fairy tale. Overlook talk of the messianic prophecies Jesus fulfilled or they might realize that the Bible is true. If they see it’s the truth they may see that following Christ is the logical decision. And whatever you do, avoid what the apostles did when it came time to call people to obey the gospel. Don’t tell them to trust Christ and live for Him. That is too accurate. If they know how to get saved your altar call will be a success. 27. Put more emphasis on the “sinner’s prayer” then on repentance and faith. Satan will smile over your departure from Biblical instruction. We are never taught to use a ‘sinner’s prayer’ throughout the entire Bible. If you decide to use it and put more emphasis on the technique than on what we’re commanded to preach: faith and repentance you’ll certainly botch things up. A ‘sinner’s prayer’ doesn’t equal salvation, only faith in Christ and repentance toward God do. 28. Let Christians think you’re the only one who can do it right. Always leave the impression that they should only invite friends to church and never actually witness themselves. It will keep you in business and the lost unsaved. 29. Don’t let the lost know they are. Disregard subjects like Judgment Day, God’s holiness, man’s sinfulness and justice. That way the lost can continue to think they’re “good enough” to get into heaven. 30. Rely upon psychological techniques to manipulate people into responding to the altar call. Don’t rely upon the Holy Spirit or they may actually get saved. 31. Make sure you’re the main attraction. Remember the goal in botching up an altar call is for people to leave and say, “What a wonderful preacher,” instead of, “What a wonderful Savior.” Draw all possible attention to how great a speaker and person you are. Otherwise people might see Christ in your preaching and get saved. 32. Don’t focus upon Jesus. Finally, the best way to botch up an altar call is not to preach the gospel. Just get people to lift up a hand and pray a prayer with you. Resist the urge to speak of the only One who could save them. Those who cant read well or have the attention span of a 7 year old, IM SORRY!!!!!!!!!!
What songs has Barbara Streisand been offered, but refused to sing, whch later became commercial successes? OK, Barbara Streisand has turned down at least 3 songs, at least one of which was written specifically with her in mind. In other cases she was offered first choice. I want the instances that she declined, which later went on to become HUGE hits. One example is Delta Dawn, which depending on where you are from, and your demographic, you will associate with Helen Reddy or someone else. It has been a major hit 4 times for 4 singing entities (bands and individuals). In all her wisdom, she turned it down as (it) "... will never be a hit." Other than Delta Dawn, I know there are at least 2 others. Can anyone name them? I will research your answers on Wiki or Billboard's site - so please quote a reasonable source (not your next door neighbours, pet groomers, aunties, daugthers boyfriends, mother). I need to be able to support your claim. I would accept a note on an album in the cover notes - that would be fine - it is researchable. If you know of one, but cannot readily prove it, send it in, and I'll try. And give credit if so due. Points will be awarded on: - highest number of songs you name correctly (ie, you can prove or give me cause to believe in) - first person to quote any song with reasonable accuracy (with few enough spelling mistakes that I can recognise the correct title) -otherwise, first person to name a song I can substantiate (other than Delta Dawn). Thanks guys ... I've tried a google search with various search keys without luck, so it will come down to personal knowledge. PS: This has also been submitted under E/Music - Celebrities
Does Anyone Think Musicians Like Alicia Keys is Sending Out Dangerous Messages Through Their Music? Keys Talks About Her Conspiracy Theories NEW YORK — There's another side to Alicia Keys: conspiracy theorist. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "`Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. `Gangsta rap' didn't exist." Keys, 27, said she's read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing 'em dead," according to an interview in the magazine's May issue, on newsstands Tuesday. Keys' AK-47 jewelry came as a surprise to her mother, who is quoted as telling Blender: "She wears what? That doesn't sound like Alicia." Keys' publicist, Theola Borden, said Keys was on vacation and unavailable for comment. Though she's known for her romantic tunes, she told Blender that she wants to write more political songs. If black leaders such as the late Black Panther Huey Newton "had the outlets our musicians have today, it'd be global. I have to figure out a way to do it myself," she said.
