Hello I am interested in a retail supervisor position, and in the job posting it says that successful candidate will have high school diploma plus 1 or 2 years of supervisory experience. I don't have 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience, but I have bachelor's degree in business, 3 years of retail experience as a sales clerk, and some minor supervisory experience that lasted for 6 months. While I was in the university I took courses on recruitment and sales staff training as well as management. Do you think I can get hired into the position or will my application rejected (despite all my education and experiences) simply because I don't have the supervisory experiences that they specified? thank you

Simply, which president will be better at ending the housing recession? I'm a working artist whose income primarily comes from creating wall-sized still-life paintings in new constructions. For example, I just completed a work in a home whose main interior colors were black and white. I custom painted a sepia toned, 1800s-looking Western bar theme for the wall that the owners really seemed to like. There are only 10 or so people in the country who do this. But with the housing recession, my sales are down due to lack of opportunities. I've had to take a part-time job teaching at the local junior college. (Besides, my wife, a successful attorney who likely will vote Republican, has been getting on my case about my idle time, but I post that stuff in the Marriage forum here.) I got turned down for a job but they want me to train the successful candidate in how to supervise me!? I was interviewed for a supervisory role yesterday but the job went to someone with less experience or qualifications than me. My line manager said this was because the interview is based on a points system and the other person said "more of the right things" than I did. Yet she's now told me that as my supervisor is leaving in 3 weeks it will be largely down to me to train her replacement. I know from talking to older members of staff that this has happened before and it seems to be accepted, but legally, is this right? I feel that if she's the better candidate then she should be able to step into the role without any problem. Can they legally say that she's a better candidate but I have to train her how to supervise me?

I just completed a third interview under special circumstances (after interviewing twice, I had to withdraw to take an internship and am back interviewing again). Overall, the interview went pretty well, but I think I flubbed on a couple of questions. That's the only reason why I'm not sure if I did that well because I wasn't 100% confident. However, I did see some pros in the interview. For example, I was invited to meet the company president on a whim (he wasn't scheduled to come in); it went on for an hour longer than it was scheduled for; I was asked about my salary requirement; I was also asked if I would be able to start as soon as possible; and they kept saying "you would be working on this and that project" instead of "the selected candidate would be doing this and that" as if they were already picturing me on the job. The interview panel told me that they would phone the following day to let me know if I had the job. When selected for an interview, how might I convey to the employer that I need a phone interview, or somehow to learn more about me; to see if i would really be a successful candidate? I don't want to pay for airfare for an interview when I may not get the job. I just don't want the trip to be a wasted one.
Why are Americans allergic to woman candidate for presidency when several strong women elected else where? It is generally being observed that several participants of the Yahoo ! Answers site have strong reservations for Ms Clinton more as a woman than any other demerits. It fails reason to find that in an evolved democracy with people having more liberal attitudes have strong objections for Clinton as a woman. Several women have been elected as Chief executives of their countries and established as very successful persons. Margaret Thatcher ( Britain ) , Golda Meier ( Israel ), Indira Gandhi (India ), Sirimavo Bandar Naike & Chandrika Kumaratunga(both Sri Lanka),Corazano Acqino ( Phillipines ), Isbela Peron ( Argentina) etc ; definitely not to lose site the present Chancellor of the United Germany. Americans have to come over discriminating several sections as Blacks, Hispanics, coloured, Women etc. If not Hillary Clinton now, which other woman would they endorse for the next election? If never,then some thing is very wrong some where and it's time for serious thinking is given . Please let the voters and the country, if not the world, know the short comings There is a strong negativity ingrained in American youth( probably) about Clinton and when it comes to detailing the details not much supporting information is forth coming. People seem to have been over carried by the reporting of some sections of media. Youth!! Please feel important and act timely to elect the right person into the powerful position who has the intellect, wisdom, experience and conviction to do justice to the office of American President.

While he hasn't quite had the line-up he desires, in due time things will come together...right? I ask all you fellow hockey fans this, because I wonder, who has been the best ex-player (NHL level, of course) to become a successful NHL head coach? There are many candidates out there, so fire away! It doesn't have to mean good ex-player. The old adage is that "an ex-player makes a good coach because they can relate better to their players and their daily struggles, life, etc."
what's the most successful public relations campaign at the moment? I think it’s the one that sells us security=McCain. As if this man, whose only solution to every challenge is force, force and more force, is actually capable of bringing any security and stability to anyone. This advertising campaign seems to be a real success at the moment. Isn’t it obvious that his aggressive policies will bring nothing but more insecurity to this country and the world in general, while at the same time depriving us of all the resources that we desperately need for education, health, jobs and to handle the horrible economic situation brought about by the previous wars? This very successful public relations campaign has programmed us to respond automatically when we hear the words security and protection to think of McCain. And most of us seem to swallow it without second thought. And the other candidates seem too afraid to speak in a way that is different from this horrible mindset. Did anyone ever stop to ask what is real security? How does it come about and why have come to the state that we are living in fear and insecurity and willing to give everything to the man who promises to protect us? Do you live in security by using the most powerful and sophisticated tools of death to scare the hell out anyone that doesn’t think like you. Does security mean terrorizing others, occupying them, killing and stripping them of their most basic rights as humans and so creating great security for yourself? Does real security means threatening others? Please think about it for a while. Is that real security, scaring others into submission? That is his plan, do you understand that, people of America? He believes that killing, bombing, torturing and mutilating others is the only way and that will bring security to Americans? That is such an insane and twisted mindset that I don't know if to laugh or cry. Of course you won’t hear those words in the current well-crafted advertising campaign around him, but if you look at what this man is saying through the years, you’ll see that that is what he believes in. If you’re trying to achieve your particular personal (or national) security by oppressing others, torturing, killing and scaring them into submission you are only inviting insecurity for yourself and for the rest of the world because the result of your actions and this force will inevitably be directed against you sooner or later. The fear and animosity that you generate in others will inevitably turn into hate and actions against you. This seems so obvious, isn’t it? Yet most people still believe this man when he says “I know how to handle them Iranians, ladies and gentleman…” and wants to bomb the life out of them as if that will bring us security. What is real security? Please think about it for a minute. isn't it living in a world where people don't hate each other and want to hurt each other, don’t suppress and occupy other people, don’t hold people at gunpoint at their bedroom because they happen to be born at the wrong place? Doesn’t real security mean a world were people are not afraid and are free to pursue what really interests them in life without fear and suppression. Please don't immediately jump and say that this is not the real world. Of course it isn’t. The real world is what we create. We have created this mess that we live in with our own ignorant and vicious actions, and we are the only ones that can start fixing it. You don't bring real security by bombing the life out of everything that isn't American. You must have real care for other human beings and for the planet as a whole. This guy will turn this whole planet into a huge graveyard in pursuit of his security. He thinks that using force (not himself personally, of course, he will draft you to do the fighting) is the only solution. Isn’t it obvious that such an approach will only bring more insecurity, misery and pain to a world that is already in deep suffering. Do you really want to give him power to do that? is that really what you wish for the world? I beg you to consider this before making such an important decision. Is comrade Zuma the perfect candidate to succeed Mbeki as South Africas next executive state president? I believe he has already proven himself to have all the characteristics needed to be a succesful African leader. While many African leaders are hardened communists, approve of violent crimes as a means to force European emigration, embrace violent land reform programmes, discrimante against women, commit blatent fraud while receiving "businessman of the year" awards, practise nepotism and self enrichment as their primary belief system, Comrade Zuma has already accomplished all this and more and what is even more impressive is that he has done this openly and with no remorse or regard for the law. I wonder if he will become as successful if not more successful than Africas beacon of light, the Great Lion Mugabe.
