Is balance the answer to life, or is it the answer to happiness?
In order for things to change there must be an imbalance however small, life cannot progress without change, therefore an imbalance is necessary for the progression of life. Too much or too little of anything will result in a negative cascade effect on your mind. If your mind is kept in a state of constant equilibrium, not a lot will change but you will have succeeded in finding temporary happiness. Which do you prefer - balance or change?

- Balance is not the answer to life or the route to hapiness. Too much balance makes one lazy.
- I don't think you can ever have total balance unless your living on some mountain top in Tibet by yourself because we are social animals; there is a need to be with others in order to progress. To strive for balance in your life you must change with your surroundings, so they are just two words for the same thing.
- you are involving in reductionism of reducing phenomenal world into balance imbalance equation. Change is becoming, and becoming is natural, since time is the moving power behind changes. Constantly becoming is the nature of nature, as nothing is permanent, and everything is changing constantly. This makes Indian Philosophers say that the world is in a great flux. Sanakracharya, the Philosopher of "Unqualified Monism" says that the entire world is in "Maya" meaning illusory. Since nothing is permanent, everything is constantly becoming, into another, another and so on, hence Sankara's theory of illusion becomes apt. Buddha also gives his theory of momentariness (Kshanabhangavada) in the line of Sankaracharaya. Naturally, I prefer change, or can I ever resist it?
- One thing almost crucial to life is change. You must learn to adapt to things, it's part of learning and a part of living your life. Those who live the same way they have ever since they can remember will end up in the same place they were in the beginning. Happiness is important to life, but accepting change is more important. And sometimes, change can make you happy too. Being able to handle big changes in life (like moving away from home, going to college, or family changes) can make you proud of yourself and bring satisfaction as well. This reminds me of a quote my history teacher told me once: "Everything in moderation, even moderation." So you must balance balance itself with imbalance.
- I prefer balance. If ones life ever goes through a transformation from being imbalanced to balanced, that transformation has included certain changes/adjustments, physically or emotionally, in order to obtain a new insight on life. The imbalanced must change to reach balance. Therefore, i also appreciate change, because without change, there would be no harmony.
- Some things should not be balanced. energy is active only when it has a pole to progress to. Life itself is an energy in dynamics. to breath is dynamic. the heartbeat is dynamic. This means that life totally balanced is death. Change is exciting. It is healthy and fun and dangerous and life preserving. I believe that without the cascade, there would be nothing. negative and positive is simply where you live.
- yes you seem right.
- Balance Can Keep One Happy Or Make Or Break You -- Consider Anna The Stay At Home Mom Who Is Happy That She Can Work At Home And Still Have Time For Family. What's Her Obstacle? She Would Like A Higher Income To Be Able To Buy Her Family Nice Things -- Balance is Not The Answer Here, If She Wants This She Will Need Change And Find A Job Outside Of The Home But Balance Will Be Interrupted. If She Makes The Change And Goes To Work Outside The Home She Will Miss Balance, But The Change Will Open Many Doors Of Opportunity For Her Whether Good Or Bad. Therefore, To Choose Balance Or Change Each Situation Must Be Analyzed Separately To Predict The Best Possible Outcome. I Hope This Helped!
- First balance then change. Balance between balance and change. Balance is essential for well being and happiness. Change is essential for progress. Change can only be constructive and if it is a temporary state between two balances. Change without balance as a starting point is more like a violent swing that will throw you out of the game.
- Untrue I think that balance is key in life and a guide to hapiness because if one is balanced one will reach true enlighment and achieve a rare sense of clarity and a better understanding of the world around them.
