Does life balance out between the good things and the not so good?

It's been a crazy ride, not always bad; not always good; always interesting. So does it balance in some way, some day?

  1. i like to think they do
  2. I think it does somtimes peculiar was too
  3. I'm sure it does... I like to think kharma is real. :)
  4. Depends on your system of beliefs and experiences. I like to think there is more positive available. You just tend to notice the negative more often.
  5. I think overall, yes, but I believe that our autonomy can play a role. We have some say in how things turn out. We can choose to be responsible or reckless....
  6. Usually bad prevails. most people are wicked. That's why we have war, murder, rape and steeling. In your life perhaps it is a balance. But look at the world. Between earthquakes, wars and durfer in Africa Genocide. I would not say good balances bad.
  7. I think it does because its with the bad that you learn to appreciate the good, and with the good do you realize you need the bad.
  8. i dont think it does. i think that life is filled with bad times and has a few spots of happyness. im not depressed just trying to figure out life . ishaq,18/m/fla
  9. It's a good way to drive yourself nuts if you believe it does balance out. There are too many situations that say no, in my opinion. What I do know is that life is what you make of it. Some people can find the one rose in an entire bush without a thorn, while others will complain that the half empty glass does not contain Evian. It's all a matter of perspective.
  10. No. You're not guaranteed any measure of balance, nor is anyone else. There are children born in poverty to mothers addicted to crack and fathers who don't live in the same state, destined to grow up undereducated, underfed, and under-loved. Are they guaranteed balance? No. If such a person is able to look past all that, and isn't so scarred as to be unable to function, then certainly positive things can still happen, and that might give some sense of things balancing out... but in spite of that person's best efforts, a tree might fall on his child, or a drive-by might leave him blind and in pain, or a girlfriend might become and addict and start the cycle over again right in front of his eyes. Is there any reason you think your life, despite the circumstances of a more favorable birth than the one described (presumably), makes you any different? Do you believe there's some sort of cosmic balance in store for anyone when you see children sold into prostitution or women raped and murdered in cold blood? Are things balancing out for them? You can hope to find personal balance. You can do good things and expect a greater measure of good things will happen to you as a result. But to expect it all to balance out is to expect a sort of predictability, or a sense of cosmic fair play, that just doesn't seem to exist.
  11. Does it?
  12. I believe it does. It's the Ying Yang, balance to the Force, what have you. If it's not to you, it's to someone close to you. So be careful. Life has a weird way of bringing closure to things.
  13. It all depends on your attitudes and expectations. The more responsibility you take for the results of your own actions the easier it is to avoid that which you consider bad and the easir it is to find and promote the good in your life.
  14. Yes. Life does seem to balance out. It takes a degree of faith to get to that point though. I have seen both of my parents die, had the time to discuss their lives, hopes, losses, unresolved concerns and at the end they both were satisfied they had lived the best life they could and had been happy more than unhappy. Satisfied more often than not with the outcome of most things. They both reached their 80's, so they certainly had the experiences of full lives.
  15. it depends on how you go about life you have tackle each day with real goals in mind. Good things happen when you do good to others around you. The bad things may happen anyway but your chaces are better with real friends arund you, that you can depend on for advice and support.
  16. If by "Someday" you mean judgment day, well I hope so. In as far as real life here and now, I don't see it. When one person, or several can end or alter many, how can that be balanced within their one or several? If their sins are visited on their sons, how can that balance for the sons? If a baby is deformed or addicted because the mother is a crack-ho, what did the baby do to deserve that?
