What does the novel Great Expectations reveal about expectations and happiness?
I have this question for homework and I'm not trying to have people do my homework but I honestly cant really explain it. I was kind of thinking along the lines that expectations, when met can like give a good outcome. And with the happiness thing, I know that by the end of the novel that Pip is content with his life. I am just confused. I read the whole book, but I am just confused. Any help would be great. Thanks. 10 pts to best answer!

- I think to sum it up is that you dont always get what you wish for or even deserve...but sometimes, just sometimes you can find happiness in the most unexpected places.
- I love this book. The main trouble is with Pip. He longs to be a gentleman, and he has "great expectations", the trouble with happiness is that you must find a middle point. While Pip was living the life of the aristocrats, he becomes a different person, he dozen´t realize his own happiness any more, he attends other matters. And suddenly when the big crush appears, when he finds who is the man behind all his money, he remembers who he is and where does he come from. And he gets better with Joe. You can´t be happy if you let your past entirely behind yourself. You have history, friends, and well, that's the middle point between your expectation and your life
- The resource of Cliff's Notes and other similar type booklet type books covering the classics could be very helpful. You can browse through them at Barnes and Noble or any good sized bookstore. At one time some books were confusing to readers, and these offer some summarized synopsis of the book which clears the confusion right up.
