Can a real estate agent be successful part time, if they have a full time job that is 11am-8pm Mon-Friday?

  1. Barely.A successful agent must be available when the cleint needs him----regardless of time. Either commit to it 100%, or don't do it at all.
  2. It is doubtful. There is a lot more to being a successful real estate agent aside from showing homes. You would have a couple hours each day and the weekends, and of course you could spend them doing real estate, but you asked if they could be successful - I consider successful not only being financially successful plus doing the best for your clients. I don't think that the amount of hours you can afford to give would be enough to do that.

  4. Probably not. I don't really have much expertise in the matter, but Monday-Friday 9am-5pm is a typical work day...so if you can only do two hours in the morning, I'm not really sure how that would work. I know they usually do open houses on the weekends (Sunday afternoons), but I would imagine that you would need time in the office during the week as well. The best way to find out would be to call a local real estate office and ask! Good luck! :]
  5. No you have to be dedicated to your career field which ever it is. I don't even suggest that real estate agents become loan officers on the side. Or anything else real estate agents consider a must have job to complete themselves. In order to be on top of your position you must take continuing eucation to maintain your real estate license. You must also attend many seminars about the current trends in marketing, salesmanship, new techniques and solutions on computers and software. Then you have the clients t take care of. If you are not giving them 100% then you might as well keep your salaried job and forget the rigors of a commissioned real estate agents job. Not this is not to say that there are not people in the real estate career field that do real estate part time. I am simply saying they are not the most successful ones, nor do they have the clients in their best interest. I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck. "FIGHT ON"
  6. Yes. In my opinion, you will be able to operate with a more level head because you won't feel like your client is just your next house payment (that you are behind on because the real estate market is slow). Make sure to partner with someone who is super successful even in the slower markets - someone who has built a solid clientele and is not stressed about where the market is, or your customers will pick up on this. And don't quit your day job until all of your debts are paid and you have a consistent part time business that pays you more than your full time job. Just bank all of the part time money and build a 6-month reserve. This is not to live on when you quit your job either. Good luck!
