- Here's the deal. There are soooo many people that have entered the California real estate market in the last couple years (be it sales or loans) that the only ways left to get noticed are unconventional. Advertisement, social clubs, etc are all too well covered. You'll be lost in the crowd. What you need is an original plan that has something to do with another passion or expertise you have. For example; a good friend of mine in New York went around to local offices and put up a bulletin: Free day-trip, by bus, to Atlantic City. He contacted a casino and brokered a deal, which knocked down the cost to nearly nothing for him. On the way down and back he moved around the bus and chatted with everyone, just putting it out there that he does real estate, some simple ways to invest in the market, etc...He got two clients out of it and won almost $1,500 at the blackjack tables. Now THAT'S an unconventional marketing strategy.
