- My cousin is a real estate agent, he is one of the rare honest ones he will tell the client that the pipes will need replacing in 3 years or what ever. In one month he made $22.000 dollars, when he started to look to work for another company 3 other companies offered him a job. One company offered him $10.000 just to work there ( he decide not to work there) His clientele is older people, they are always looking for properties to invest.
- The best job I ever had was as a police dispatcher/administrative assistant at a local police department. I learned public relations, how to deal with politics and enjoyed the officers I worked with. To be successful in real estate enroll in some courses at a local junior college.
- I like jobs where I'm around intelligent people all day. The level of humor is high, the conversation is interesting, and they usually have a life and don't need to gossip or backstab or create drama at work to fill in the slack time or to take their minds off their otherwise drab lives. There are exceptions, but I've found this generally to be the case. I also worked full time as a real estate agent for one year. It is not a job. It is (in most states) an independent contractor position. It's easy to get into, but very, very hard to make a living at. When times are tough, sales can go right to zero, and your income along with it. The only person I knew who was successful had previously had a photography business in the area for 25 years and had a list of 2000 clients from that business. He had no problem with marketing. He did have a problem with drinking, but he figured that out. You might be successful in real estate if 400 people in your area already know you by name, on sight.
