about power mac 3. I can only see a grey screen with a happy face in the middle of it. What does this mean?
I can only see a grey screen on start up with a square window with a happy face in it. Nothing is responding. I put my start up disc/boot up and it askes questions, but the computer won't let me answer them. What to do?

- It means you have an ancient Mac that wasn't all that great when it was new. 90% of the motherboards in those things are gone.
- It means the computer can't find it's internal start-up disk. Try starting from your disc version (while holding the "C" key when booting) and run disk utilities to see if it finds any problems. Otherwise, you'll need to do a clean install of the OS. It's a software, not a motherboard problem.
