Why do people think putting a happy face after a rude comment makes it okay to say?

I do it all the time, but I've noticed it just makes it stupid. Like: well you're boring:) or you suck lol Just why do people think it's okay (not blaming anyone or anything... just takin a survey, thanks)?

2. lol i do that too but only when i'm playing around. If i'm serious i won't put it. It's kinda like if you're talkin to your friend and you say 'you're stupid' you would probably giggle or smile to make it known that you're just playing around. That's why people put the smiley face.
3. I do it when I'm joking around most of the time. "Your such a dork :D" is what I'd usually say. But if I'm serious about it , I wont put anything. O.O" I do use it to be sarcastic sometimes but thats just me.
