- Resounding success. We got rid of those pesky colonists & their demands - but kept all of the trade, a win win for us. Resounding failure. We got rid of those resourceful colonists & their demands - but had to maintain the trading links, a lose lose for us.
- It was a success since Americans liked being independent. It was a failure because the Articles of Confederation didn't work well in peacetime.
- We also had to repay the soldiers and France. And we had to create a government.
- The most significant failure of the revolution was the confederation of states under the articles of confederation. For fifteen years (until the ratification of the Constitution in 1791) the colonies labored under a confederation which caused many more problems than it resolved. Interstate commerce was impossible because states levied their own duties and tariffs, we used many types of different currency; all attempts to solve these problems failed one after the other. The confederation was about to come acropper until a few members of the confederation congress dared to suggest the need for a constitutional convention.
