Does anyone else have a problem with feeling threatened or jealous when others have a big success?
I have this problem, and I'm trying really hard to overcome it. I want to be happy for others when they succeed, not jealous. I think I have a major inferiority complex.

- No --- I congratulate them !.
- I think it depends on the context. Did someone you know just win the lottery? Then yeah, some jealousy is normal. Or are you jealous when a good friend gets a good grade, promotion, etc? That may be over the top as I'm sure you're just as capable of those things. Also, have you considered that you're not so much the "jealous type" as the "competitive type." That would describe me and I don't necessarily see it as a flaw. Jealousy is a normal human emotion...as long as it doesnt like, consume you, I wouldn't worry too much.
- I have that problem with people who are close to me. You have to keep telling yourself that your turn will come and they deserve it (even if they don't). Jealousy is a natural feeling but it can be bad if you are jealous too often. So Its good that you are working on that. Goodluck
- Sometimes I do, and I feel guilty about it and berate myself for not just feeling happy for them. Really, I think that your feelings are quite common and probably natural. We are competitive human beings, and naturally compare our accomplishments to those of others. From the standpoint of becoming successful in life (and business or careers) we need to excel, and that often means performing better than some other folks in areas where we compete. So a certain amount of competitiveness is a good thing as long as it doesn't become extreme. I try to praise others for their successes and remind myself that I have been quite fortunate in life as well. So I try to "Count my blessings" and be glad for what I have. I also think that you are right to relate jealousy or envy to inferiority or inadequacy feelings. Building our own self-esteem makes it easier to appreciate and recognize the successes of those around us.
