How do make a dog happy when its depressed?
I have two boston terriors and we recently got a new tea cup chichuaua. The youngest boton terrior craves all the attention but now that we have the chichuaua the boston terrior has been depressed. We still give all three dogs the same amount of attention. What can we do to make the dogs happy?

- Dogs are so much like kids...but in this case, it wouldn't hurt to favor the one that is depressed. Let that dog know that it favored a bit and it will know it's alpha of the pack.
- if you do something individual for each dog, make sure that the other dogs don't know about it. Perhaps give the depressed dogs walks seperately from the others so that it feels special, and then again with the others.
- You should give them some more toys, and maybe do a little more with them like taking walks regularly. Dogs like normality.
- Give them a dog treat and more attention . Hopefully they will all get used to one another in no time . Encourage them to play together .
- This sort of thing just takes some time. Dogs do this just like children do when you bring a new baby home- they are jealous that their mommy is now giving their attention to someone else. I would suggest just waiting it out, perhaps giving the depressed one a little more attention than the others for a little while. If he doesn't get better after a month or so, maybe call your vet. Your vet should be able to provide you with more specific suggestions based on your particular case. Be careful with your new little dog though, sometimes the other dog could actually become aggressive towards him or her, and that would create a problem. Please make sure that you correct him or her at any little sign of aggression.
- just play with them, dogs love to play
- Animals (and humans, for that matter) react very well to Mozart music. Try it. Play Mozart to them. I know it sounds like a weird suggestion. But it works!
- well it sounds like your boston terriers are upset because when a new dog comes along they think everyone would rather see it than them. they probably wish it was hoiw it used to be. you might be giving the chihuahua and the terriers the same amount of attention but are you doing it with the same enthusiasm. they probably feel left out. they need the most attention becuase they have to make more room for the new dog in your heart and dont want to. give it more attention so that it knows you still love it just the same as always. make it feel special.
- Take them all out for walks and give to give each dog some one-on-one attention. Most of all play with them, like tug-o-war, and give them chew toys. That is what helps my dogs when they get depressed when no one is paying attention to them.
- Maybe it sees the other two dogs are with it's own kind and it wants to be with a chichuaua too
- Take them together for long walks; about 2 hours a day (break it up into two walks). After each walk, let them relieve themselves and sniff together. Better yet, if there is a dog park near you, I think socialization would actually resolve the problem.
- Give them all extra attention.
- Rocky gets a pepperoni and cheese platter. boy he sure gets depressed alot1
