- do a yahoo search for Enlish to Japanese translation. You'll have to play around with quite a few sites, but I'm sure one of them will have a phonetic translation instead of Japanese.
- そのこちゃん、 おたんじょうびおめでとう! The ちゃん added after そのこ (Sonoko, her name) is an optional honorific of endearment, but since she's your cousin I assume you wouldn't mind. You can always remove it. おたんじょうびおめでとう is just the simplier way of writing the kanji form you had.
- Belie has it right. Most six-year-olds can read hiragana and some katakana. Kids are expected to already know hiragana in first grade, so I think Sonoka-chan will have no problem. Write "Happy Birthday" in English too.
- お誕生日おめでとうございますね。。 otanjoubi omedetou gozaimasu ne!!! happy birthday to you!!!!
- In kana, write: Sonoka-chan, shiawase no tanjoubi!
- write "Otanjobi omedetoo, Sonoka!" then go to 'kanjisite.com' for the hiragana...gambatte!
