Is it going overboard to send my first niece a happy 1 month birthday card?

My very first niece arrived in December. I had to go back to college though last week and cannot be there when she turns 1 month, 2 month old etc.. Is it weird to send a little card to my sister, but meant for my little niece? I love her and miss her already! :) thanks!

2. No, not at all. My daughter was a first niece and grandchild and her aunts and uncles and grandparents did neat things like that. It's hard to keep up, though, if you have 4 siblings and they all have big families. Ya kinda lose track after a while. LOL
