Success Happy

Is it possible for Christians to have suicidal thoughts and also self-injure but have good days being happy?

I do know because of my faith in Christ and growing up in the church that it is wrong. I also can not think of anything in my life which would make me want to take my life. I have confided in a few close friends, though I am too afraid to tell my family. The one friend, our church youth director, is helping me try to get some kind of counseling.

  1. you don't need counseling bro, I'll tell you a secret: many more people have thought about suicide than will ever admit it.
  2. UMMM..? You're "a human being", aren't you? Of course you are going to have good days, bad days, good, bad thoughts/feelings, even actions & behavior..It isn't "right", or "wrong"...it's HUMAN NATURE. Stop judging yourself, that's up to GOD. :)
  3. yes, it is possible. I know a christian who came very close to killing himself, but, luckily, was rescued at the last moment by a kindly minister. This guy was a great guy. A fine Christian. A help to everyone he knew. You are not alone. Jesus didn't promise us a bed of roses on this earth. He talked about taking up our crosses and following him. I hope that you can get the help that will bring you closer to recovery. You deserve to be happy. Don't be afraid to seek everywhere till you find health and wholeness. Godspeed, my friend.
  4. I believe you are as normal as anyone else in this world. We have all had times when these thoughts have crossed our mind. Some act on them and that is truly a sad thing. Yes get counseling from a professional. I know you are afraid to tell your family, but they are the ones that love you the most and they can also be your best support. No they won't have all the answers to your question, or even know what to do but they love you and would want the best for you and to help you. Trust in whom God has put in your life. I have been exactly where you are and yes it was hard to talk to my parents but I did. I got the help I needed and also wanted. My family didn't understand, but they stood by me. Yes I am a christian. You see we are not perfect, only he is.
  5. I'm a member of the Presbyterian denomination, myself. But, as for your question: definitely YES. There's this one certain guy in my church's congregation who comes to mind here. I'll just identify by his initials of S.K. He's a Japanese Amer- ican, in his mid-40s. (And, talk about being depressed and not acknowledging it... S.K. is the epitome of that problem: I've never seen a more forced smile; I've never seen a more sad looking individual; I've never seen, in short, a person who's in worse shape than S.K.!) And although he has no trouble with giving others "the time of day," as it were, S.K. wears the same clothes every day, rarely washes his hair, he's constantly unshaven. The moral of this story: many people think that church will solve all their problems. But, being a realist--as well as being someone who suffered from depression for more than two entire years--I know that that's simply not true. If you have suicidal thoughts, the first thing to realize is that they should not be taken for granted: don't automatically assume that you really do want to kill yourself, just because you say that; and get help! If you do not, then you actually might take a very wrong turn, and hurt yourself very badly or... yes... even kill yourself! And look elsewhere for help: some very good authors on the subject of Buddhism/meditation--who I read during 2007 (a combined total 24 books of these masters, in a 9 months' time)! Don't let the word "Buddhism" fool you; these guys know what they speak about, and they can be of enormous help to you! Good luck. 6. Yeah you definitely need counseling. Whoever said it's "bad" for Christians to have suicidal thoughts and to self-injure obviously is close-minded and hasn't experienced anything other than maybe a heartbreak.
