Is putting school before work morally wrong?
I'm getting a master's degree. I've had the same job for about 3 years now. I wasn't in school when I started working here, but I am right now. My company does not really support a work/life balance. But I need this job until I graduate. I am thinking of doubling up on some classes to get finished in 9 months. I would only be able to work the minimum 40 hours per week. Do you think I should take less classes so I can devote more time to work, even though it will take me twice as long to finish my program? Or do you think I should just get school out of the way and finish within the next 9 months even though I will be barely getting by at work? I plan on leaving the job when I'm done with school. There's nowhere else for me to go here, my degree wouldn't help at my present company.

- no its called having your priorities in line
- Invest in whichever will give you the better future!
- Nope...its not wrong. I'm in the same boat...and I do my HW at work if needed. Your education will get you further in the long run.
- Your company and you have a contract (verbal or written) so much work for so much pay. When they hired you, they knew you were in school and should not have expected, any more of a life commitent than hours/pay. When your at your job, do your job but leave it there. Get your degree and go out in the world and do good things...you are satisfying your part of the work bargain
- school,i had to live in the salvation army so i could finish a school i was going to a few years ago instead of quiting and working full time. School,SCHOOL. good luck
- Without an education you can't go anywhere worth wild in this world
- no, its just what u want. ur priorities should be u and what u want. if ur not harming anyone then why would it be morally wrong? of course, if u have a family to support, people depending on ur income and u chiose school then school wouldnt be that ok for now.
- Yes, you weren't in school when you started working. They are paying you to do your job, not pay you to take oxygen up.... If you cannot do your job because of school then reduce your school load, reduce work hours or quit... If not your stealing......
