How do you get birth/death/marriage records for Northern Ireland?

Seems that before the creation of the Republic all records were in Dubliln and burned in a fire?

  1. Try this website; http://www.groni.gov.uk/ Good Luck!
  2. i believe its at the BELFAST CITY HALL northern ireland is a country of its own , it has nothing to do with the south of ireland since it was given its republic by the british empire.
  3. If you can't find civil records, check religious records. Parish registers and sacramental records are particularly valuable to genealogists. Whether they were Protestant or Catholic, someone baptized them when they were born, married them in the eyes of guys, and blessed them before they went in the ground. +/- 2 days of each of their birth and death, some priest recorded the event for posterity's sake. The trick is to find the parish.
  4. Like the first person said you would need to contact, http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm I thought you might like the links to these sites as well, the first one is called, just "Irish Ancestors" and I believe there is some BMD records on there. http://www.ireland.com/ancestor/browse/records/state/ This one is for any thing Irish, it's a genealogy directory called "Irish look ups" and I think it's a really useful directory. http://rmhh.co.uk/ireland.html Hope this helps.
