Online place to search for marriage records?

There's online sites that allow phone/address searches, background searches etc. for a person... Are there any sites to search for legal records for marriage? I'd prefer it to be free but if not, any help would be appreciated.

1. If it's recent (as in, the people who got married are probably still alive), then there are privacy issues so you can't just get them off a convenient website. If you're looking for a copy of your own records, or your parent's or some such, you can probably get it. If you want to know details about your significant other's previous marriages, you may not be able to get them.
