Divorce and Marriage Records, Why Is There a Need To Investigate By P.I.???

Why do private investigators list divorce/marriage records as one of their investigation services? What are they doing?

Public Comments

  1. Divorces get messy, people hide money, they bicker about stupid things. A PI is a *somewhat* neutral party, who can find all the skeletons in the closet for use in court.
  2. You can find other info about families on divorce/marriage records. Names of parents and maiden names and some people use the service when they're stuck at a point and trying to find info on family members out of state for a family tree.
  3. Anyone this day and age that doesn't do a background search on their soon to be partner is asking for loads of trouble!!!!! A member of my family married a woman, (he asked about previous marriages while dating, she produced divorce papers), then years later he found out one of the divorce papers she produced was a fake. She had copied one divorce decree, used white out on the names and dates, typed in what she wanted, then re-copied it to make it look legit. So she was guilty of bigamy and it caused a HUGE legal mess......they were never married! Took years to work it all thru the courts and thousands of dollars. So before walking down the isle, invest the money and do a complete background check on the partner to be!
  4. most people today think they can go on line and do a background check on almost anything for a few bucks. people don't understand how notoriously inaccurate most of those sites are. information obtained from a ethical and competent investigator is far more credible. many people have a need to obtain the type of information that you have described. it is a basic background/records search.
