How do I get him on the bicycle?

My son is 5 almost 6 (in July) and we cannot talk him into taking the training wheels off of his bike. I have to confess he is a pampered child, spending the first 4 years of his life with only women has made kind of "soft" He will get on his bike and ride but doesn't want to go very far and has no idea what balance means. I don't want him to get hurt, but I don't want him to be made fun of because he can't ride a bike. Help!

  1. Don't rush him. He'll be ready in his own time. 5 is not that old to still be riding with training wheels on. My 7 & 9 year old ride around on my 5 year old bike with training wheels often more times then they do their own bike. He'll learn balance when he's ready too. Right now he's still relying on that back wheel. Stop bullys from teasing when your out there with him. Say something once, & they won't say anything again! Guaranted!
  2. Move the training wheels up just a little bit at a time - maybe so little that he doesn't even notice. It should help him find his balance and confidence at the same time once he sees what is happening.
  3. convince him to get on a bike telling him that you will push him after 5 meters stop and he will go by his self!that s how i learned
