What do successful candidates do to get the job?
Public Comments
- they are natural
- Dress up, smell nice and look professional! But that comes after you get an interview. Make sure you call the place to arrange an interview (if applicable). Smile, look confidant, have direct eye contact. Brush up on the history of the workplace, know your information... every little bit helps! And don't forget to write a thank you note to the place after your interview. It might tip the balance and land you a job.
- Most "successful" candidates have earned that label because of what they have done their whole lives, not just the short period leading up to a job interview. For example, they have gained valuable volunteer experience, worked hard in high school and earned a degree from a good college, put a lot of effort into their previous jobs and have great references to show for it and so on. As for the pre-interview period, you will have to realize that you are a product which you will need to market effectively to earn a good job. Approach it as a sales job, and prepare your sales strategy long before the interview begins. GOOD LUCK!
- LIE! A successful candidate must be creative enough to lie on his resume and ballsy enough to do what it takes not to get caught. An impressive (qualified) resume shows me the person knows what we're looking for and what the job requires.
