how should a peson go about entering politics from scratch?

I am very interested in running for a political ofice in Suffolk county NY. I would like to know how one can become a successful candidate. please help.

1. practice your lying, that is what all politicians are good at.
2. Put your kid in little league baseball. The politics between the parents is bloodthirsty.
3. You will need money. You will need to know the issues inside and out. You shouldn't have a criminal record (this is funny considering who is president), and most important - are you committed to doing what the PEOPLE want and not what you think is best? Elected people are supposed to exercise the goals of the electorate, not the lobbyists and those with their own agendas. You will also need people who will help you, from putting up ( and don't forget taking down signs so as not to litter ) signs. You need to get in the newspapers, tv, magazines and on radio. Be sincere. Speak your mind. If the people like what you say, you will get elected. Oh yeah, brush your teeth, don't do earrings or weird tats, and maybe don't even wear a tie. Nothing says " I am a politician" more than a tie and an American flag pin on a lapel. Also, remember most Americans are really dumb, they have short attention spans, and don't care what is going on the world. Be prepared for lots and lots of apathy.
