Do you think Barack Obama can win the 2008 presidential election?
Do you think Barack Obama can win the 2008 presidential election? Why or why not? Also, what steps do you think he needs to take in order to be a successful candidate? (Does he need to come up with a plan to carry out his ideas? Does he need to be stronger on foreign policy?) Also, who will be his strongest opponent?

- Look, the man has NO experience in government. None at all. He just started being a congressman. How does that qualify him for leader of the free world? Ridiculous.
- no
- not a chance
- universal answer to all your questions: Hillary.
- Not yet.
- Hillary will crush him in the primaries. I do not like Hillary but I think she will be the democrat's candidate.
- Not a chance in hell...
- I think he has a good shot at it. He has some work to do with the white and hispanic populations, but he's smart and charismatic. I think Hillary is going to be the toughest. But could be the year for a minority to get in.
- Obama has no experience. He is not a viable candidate.
- No. We will never have a black president. However, his candidacy may help Hillary.
- i believe he can win but the thing is that he may have started his run a little early. if he can keep up his strength until the time of elections comes around then he will win beating out clinton. as for the steps to be taken?? im not too sure. within the democratic party it will most definetly be clinton but as a whole, it depends on who is going up to bat for the republicans. it could be gulliani which would then be very hard for obama to beat.
- yes he has a chance.
- yes
- Nope
- No chance because Obama looks too much like Osama.
- Obama is popular because of two things. 1-He has no stated positions on ANY major issues, so you can interject your own opinions into what you think is his soul. Once he becomes a candidate, every time he opens his mouth he will erode his potential voter pool by 50% because he will have to take some sort of position. 2-White Guilt. Obama is a black man whom white voters are not frightened of, again because he has not taken any positions on any issues and because his image is carefully crafted to be a white person in a black disguise. And yes, I do feel bad writing that but that is basically what I feel is going on. Opponent-Traditionally, the Democratic primary process finishes substantially before the Republican, so the GOP will be able to choose a candidate based at least in part on whom they will have to beat in the upcoming election, rather than on issues that the base wants to hear about.
- he needs to come up with a brain. he blathers empty headed nonsense and everyone acts like he is christ for the second coming. try, if you might, to listen to what he actually says.....NOTHING..... he is a big ol liberal through and through (late term abortion advocate-check his voting record). ok, i just watched the idiot answer some "tough questions" according to oprah. if they were any more lame, i might have vomited. they were definitely weak and stupid questions with equally weak and stupid answers. everything i said was confirmed this afternoon.
- Yeah, he can, because the American public cares more about appearance than substance.
- Yes. He has already been stating his policies and getting ready to jump into the race. Democrats in primaries are worried that Hillary is too polarizing which she is. I would still vote for her but Obama, even with his lack of experience, could do the job just fine. We need some fresh blood because these seasoned politicians are too corrupt. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT 08
- Obama will split the Democratic vote with Hillary, making the Republican candidate a shoe-in. Edwards is too much of a joke to even take seriously.
- i certainly hope so... i like him a lot better than the others that might run...
- No-solely because many people in America would turn out in force to prevent electing a black man. I would not vote for him because number one I believe he lacks experience and number two he does not share my politcal beliefs. I see Hillary Clinton and John Edwards as his strongest opposition from the Democrat side. I foresee on the Republican side Rudy Guilanni or Newt Gingrich getting the nod for the GOP nomination and if Rudy gets it, he is your next President.
- He has NO experience. He was an ineffective state senator. He's already been loosely associated with crime and corruption. He's for amnesty for illegals, and he support the biggest discriminatory program in force to day. He has shown me nothing that I would want in a commander in chief or President. He can talk a good game is all that I can see. I personally want more out of a candidate.
- NOT A CHANCE!!!
- At the present time I do not think so. He is just an unproven politician and at this time in history we need a proven leader. He is a nice enough guy but not what we need to lead this country after the mess the present admin has gotten us into.
- Not all black Americans are crazy about Obama. According to this article,he hasn't gone through the black American experience. http://article.wn.com/view/2006/12/21/Obamas_toughest_sell_for_White_House_bid_may_be_to_other_bla_g/
