What are good college majors that will allow me to be successful? (preferably something in design) I want to go into something with arts, something like design. But those majors don't always offer great jobs and a high pay.

- Basket weaving.
- Pharmacy is a very good major. I know it's not in design, but you might want to think about it. It could be a very cushy job.
- a stager..major in business and a minor or double major with design...then start your own business and become a stager...these guys make huge bucks especially if your really good you'll get to stage multi million dollar homes and get a certain percentage from that...usually 2-4 thousand every too weeks if you stage 3-4.5 million dollar homes
- arquitecture my uncle is a big one that owns stuctures west in las vegas and hes pretty rich.
- I'm not sure what the major would be exactly...but I'm sure there will always be a demand for web designers. The highest paying major directly out of college right now is petroleum engineering..... Sometimes what you're most interested in is not going to pay the most. You have to decide what's important to you: you can either make lots of money right away, or do something you love and the money will come.
- If you're not 100% sure of what you want to do for the rest of your life, then I suggest a two year college. Get your required courses out of the way (those credits can be transfered) , and explore some classes that interest you. You'll save money and you might find something that has to do with design that fits your needs. You can move on from there.
- I would major in something that you are both interested in and has a good chance of getting you hired. If you stink at design, don't major in it, even if you love it, because you probably won't get a job. I agree with the person who said to major in business. This assures a job upon graduation, and you can use those skills to sell your own work. The most successful young artists I know have done something similar to this.
- that depends on how you define being successful...i will second that a knowledge of business will help you, though having a job you want to get up for everyday is more important than your pay check
