What is the ratio of film directors being successful?

I am interested in becoming a film director for movies that hit theateres. I've read u on the career and pay is good for them but only for successful creator....what is the chance of becoming successful?..high or low?

1. Depends on how successful your films are... Many directors are very successful, but people don't recognize them, or their names aren't popular. Others are more popular than the films they direct.
2. Sorry, it is very,very low...you have to have connections. It is 90% luck and only 10% your skill in making movies.
