Why do liberals conduct witchunts for successful Americans?
I am a successful man and I don't want to be paying my hard earned money to the government so that it will go to the millions of hopeless, useless lives on welfare. Most welfare money goes to single parent homes, families that are hopeless and will bring up a menace to society. The liberals want to keep everyne poor so that they can enslave them by making them dependent on the government. It seems all the time that liberals are chasing after decent CEO's and millionaires for making more money than they ever will in their miserable lives.

- Why does any parasite? Because it's in their nature to live off of the body politic. For the people who claim that social spending is <1% , try looking at Health and Human services
- You and Jesus have a lot in common...NOT! You are what God talked about when he said, "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven." The only thing you care about is yourself, the money you've earned and what's in it for you. You make money your god. People have very little value to you except in how you can profit from them. And then you wonder why you are miserable and empty inside. "For what doth it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul?"
- This is a joke, right? It would have to be considering the number of high-level execs that take home massive bonuses every year while their companies drop workers off the payroll by the thousands.
- Er... actually, most government money goes to CORPORATE WELFARE rather than benefits for low-income families! Try again!
- blah-blah-blah rant-rant-rant my life is not "miserable" your the one that sounds like he has big problems and issues.
- ask ron paul
- I agree. I felt that way when John Kerry decided that I was rich because I made well over 100K. He never took into consideration that I was taxed @ a higher rate, employed 8 people, had overhead for my business....etc. WOW THIS IS THE MOST THUMBS DOWN I EVER RECEIVED. WHAT IS INSPIRING SUCH A REACTION?
- That's right we should let the poor wallow in misery because we who have been blessed shouldn't care about the hopeless.
- Welfare of all types is less than 1% of the budget, and less than corporate welfare. Be a man and pay your taxes without bitching about it.
- If you are so successful, why are you crying about it on the Internet instead of the TV, talk radio, or to your congressman neighbor?
- Because they don't want to work hard for their own success. They have some strange idea that rich people do not deserve their own money. Even thought they are the one who spent the time in college, worked hard and made them self successful.
- How dare you be successful! You're a monster! In case you missed it, I was sarcastic. I'm not successful financially and I'm on your side on this one man. ---- Also, for s1ngularity: The Bible places tax collectors and sinners in the same category [Matthew 9:10]. Now, one could argue "but we're all sinners", however, the passages calls them, specifically, sinners as though they were willfully unrepentant in their sins. That sounds kind of like a liberal democrat demanding your money for "charity" doesn't it?
- I know how you feel. Just recently officially started my own video production business. Submitted my DBA (doing business as) papers so I can write my equipment off and so I don't have to pay taxes on the money I bring in when doing contract work. Taxes are bad enough as they are and I thank G.W. for wanting to make tax-cuts permanent. He has made it possible to afford to keep my business going. The only reason why I can think of mostly Democrats wanting higher taxes and more government intervention on business is because the lower class is the only ones they can get the vote off of. My dad works for one of the biggest investment company in the world. Every one of his clients are Republican. Why? Because they know how to earn money and support themselves in the world without the government babying them. *Takes deep breath*
- On yes we should leave countless innocent children without healthcare, food, and a place to live What a nice conservative Christan you are!
- Really? I thought the vast amount of welfare went to the rural "working poor". So you take full advantage of all the benefits that this society provides: relartively stable currency, enforcable contracts, low taxes relative to the other industrialized nations, stable government. And you don't want to pay for all of that? Go to Cambodia or Nicaragua and run your successful business.
- Ah, and what would be the programs you want your hard earned money to support, pray tell? And what are you CEO of? Oh, maybe you are just a normal millionaire?
- Your hard earned money is needed to fund the war. stop whining
- Gee don't know where to start. Single parent households are hopeless? A menace. Can you be that ignorant! So are you saying those lives are worth nothing? Deserve nothing better. Witch hunt. You don't have to hunt anything when it comes to corporate corruption. It's in our face damn nearly everyday. Do you think for one moment that doesn't effect families. When your factory shuts down after you've been there 25 years! Or some suited guy just ripped off your pension fund. You've got to be kidding.
- kind of borders on fascism doesn't it, look at the way they went after bill gates,( he wouldn't donate to any political party so the law suits started, they can't stand success, they won't protect American businesses from that phony "world court" in Belgium either
- Generally, it's the conservative Justice Department that apprehends and tries corporate criminals. The juries that convict them have people of varied views. Sorry, you don't get a pass on criminal acts because you are wealthy. Perhaps, I'm mistaken but could you point to any data showing how our prisons are filled with CEOs?
- because you are the peoples enemies. you live like kings and your employees live like serfs. you enslave us, use us up and throw us away. eventually we wont be happy with just your money....we'll want something more.
- Because the "have nots" are too lazy to work to be successful therefore the next best thing to do is punish the "haves"
- Why do Conservatives conduct witch hunts for brown people?
- Its because you have decided to do something about your situation and not hope that someone else will do it for you. Since liberals are socialists, they can't control you if you don't need them. The people who need them don't do anything for themselves except continue to claim that people like you hold them down, when their desire to watch Jerry Springer or Judge Joe Brown and not create their own wealth which is what holds them down. Since they can't control you, they you need to help fund those they do control, the lazy, selfish, undisciplined types who haven't fallen are hard times, those people pick themselves back, but for those who never aspire to do anything but hope that government keeps writing they checks, while they go to mall, eat, and watch TV on your dime and my dime. and a footnote: I'm sure most substantially successful people fall on hard times, get their lights cut off, their phone disconnected, and bill collectors calling(when the phone is back on). The difference is they got up when they fell(this all happened to me), and did not wait for someone's hand to help them up, they used both of their OWN hands to lift themselves up.
- Check the budget dummy. Most of your money goes to military spending (happy with that?), social security (parasitic geezers), medicare and medicaid (one of those is old people, one is welfare). These liberals that want to keep people poor are in your (or Rush Limbaugh's) head. They just REALLY like helping poor people. How hard is it to figure that out? Conservatives would probably have their permanent majority if they just stopped bashing liberals for two seconds and figured out how to re-word their case as being better for the poor. Another thing, a lot of the richest people in the world are liberals. Oh, and, single-parent homes are far from hopeless, although i do support abortion partly for this reason (way to go on improving adoption conservatives!)
- I'm sure you feel that the person born with Down Syndrome has the same chances as you and shouldn't receive any help. Or maybe the veteran who lost both of his legs fighting in war while your daddy put you through college. No tax money for him either. When you measure your success by the number of toys you have you are a shallow person and all the money in the world will never bring you the happiness many of us experience. Compassion is something you will never feel. Enjoy your life.
- I'd like to be a successful man. At the moment all I have in my account is a somewhat successful student. But you sound like a comical character speaking as that. I wonder what did you do to be successful.
- You are the perfect example of the rightly hated demonizing, vilifying and lying representative of your class. You need to educate yourself and no longer be the ignoramus you have evidenced yourself to be. Start with these . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_welfare http://www.bookrags.com/research/how-much-does-the-nation-spend-on-w-ipf4-07/ http://www.eriposte.com/economy/tax/corporate_welfare.htm http://www.heritage.org/Research/Budget/BG1520.cfm The US taxpayers give at least TEN TIMES the amount to companies/corporations in the way of CORPORATE WELFARE than the government spends on the ordinary poor amongst us. These CORPORATE WELFARES are NOT monies required to "do business" but in fact mostly quid pro quo corruption as widely acknowledged . You of course have no ETHICAL or MORAL problem with these incredible amounts of taxpayer monies going to the RICH,POWERFUL and CONNECTED . You have the un-mitigated gall to refer to the poor as menaces to society when in fact is is these corporations that are societies most profound menace .I won't even bother go through the literally thousands of ENRONS nor will I give the list of again THOUSANDS of companies and corporations that stand charger with fraud against the American taxpayer. Here is just the tip of the horribly corrupt corporate America: http://www.usdoj.gov/dag/pubdoc/health97.htm The amount of money that companies/corporations DEFRAUD government every year of is GREATER THAN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S WELFARE EXPENSES !!! The extent of all this corporate fraud and welfare means that there are DE FACTO thousands of YOUR DECENT CEOS AND MILLIONAIRES that are NOT DECENT at all. Given all this VERIFIABLE DATA FACTS PROOF,YOU just spew out your venum on the poor and needed and debase them as human beings. You are pathetic.
- I'm a liberal and I don't chase after decent CEO's and millionaires. I would like to be a millionaire. But I do think that millionaires should pay their share of taxes. I think deductions and loopholes should be eliminated and that they should actually pay a higher %. And I believe that a lot of people need help in the form of job training or better schools. And when they are thrown out of work, there should be a safety net. I also believe that if someone is working 40 hours a week they should get a decent wage....even if they are just flipping burgers or digging ditches. Not everyone is cut out to be a CEO or even a teacher or a salesclerk.
- I left my husband because he was physically abusive towards me and our children. I stayed in a shelter paid with taxpayer money, received college grants from the federal government, and received food stamps for two months after I graduated while I looked for a job. That was 16 years ago. Last year, for the first time, I made over $100,000 (I've been slowly working my way up all these years). I raised my kids with little help from my ex-husband and I was able to do that because I made more money than average. My older son is now a manager at a small business and is going to college for a business degree. The amount of money that I received from these government systems was about $15,000, but I have put far more back through the tax system because I have been in higher paying jobs due to my education (I pay about $12,000/year for federal taxes and about $7,000/year on state taxes). So the return on the investment that you, the taxpayer, made on me has been pretty good. These past 16 years I've had to work a lot of jobs where I had to put in 60-70 hour weeks. But I gladly pay my taxes because I am grateful that I live in a country that gave me the chance to earn a decent living. You, not so much.
- CEO's of the Enron type should be burned at the stake.
- I cannot decide whether or not you are sincere with this question, or somebody just trying to have some fun stirring people up. Either way, since there are plenty of people with your greedy view and espousing your straw man, I shall entertain your question as one of sincerity. Although I should just use your fallacious logic and ask, "why do neoconservatives conduct witch hunts against middle class americans," or, "why do neoconservatives hate children whose parents can afford health insurance?" I don't know what "witch hunts" you are talking about. Liberals and non-liberals alike believe the present tax system favors the top income bracket too much. A far cry from a "witch hunt." People with "liberal" viewpoints come from all walks of life, and all income brackets, and all levels of "success" however you want to judge it. Unfortunately, the neoconsertive ideology only recognizes greed and exorbitant wealth as the metric for "success." But, since money is the only thing neoconservatives and you seem base their ideals around, I'll speak your language. Are you aware of Forbes #2 richest person in the US and #3 in the world, Warren Buffet? He knows the the top 1% aren't paying their fair share when compared to the majority of honest, hard-working Americans. That horrible unsuccessful liberal: http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2007/oct/31/usnews Of course, the US "lib'rul media" barely even mentioned this, nor rarely mentions his statements in regards to fair taxation, modest living despite enormous wealth, fair treatment of employees, and generous philanthropy. He also favors an inheritance tax (so called "death-tax"). If I'm to assume the neoconservative mantra that (1) there is an obvious liberal bias in the mainstream media, and (2) liberals are against the wealthy, should I by matter of reason assume that this would have been spoon fed to us 24-7? That damn liberal, he is so against financial success, that is why is "worth" $56.9 billion. Of course, he is just one of many financially successful "lib'ruls." As has been laid out admirably by ndgbill, if you are going complain about our need to "cut the fat," try looking at some of the biggest hogs at the trough. Social Welfare is dwarfed in comparison to corporate handouts. I don't want my hard earned money to bail out some company so their CEO can still command a 7-8 figure salary.... or bills such as the Gasoline for America’s Security Act of 2005 which lined the pockets of the oil industry's board rooms during a time when they were (and now continue to be) making record profits while hard working Americans were (and are) getting raped at the pumps. I agree there needs to be welfare reform, and at both ends. But, I'd much rather see tax money being spent on bringing people up, rather than inflating the wealth of the already-haves. I'd rather see money distributed to multiple family farm owners than a few agribusinesses with top-earning execs. Shouldn't we try to help ALL people achieve the disappering "American dream" rather than continue to increase the quality of life of those who have already far surpassed it? I'm sorry. I'd rather see a tax dollar in the pocket of a single mother flipping burgers so her children can try to improve the lives of her children.
