Is being very very very very very successful in life based on hard work or raw talent?
My father said it's really really hard to be one of the hundreds of billionares in the world. He said even if I will work soooo hard, it will be very hard to be successful. When I said "How about those billionares who went from scratch to builiding their billionare empire?", he said the difference between them and the rest of the world is just a difference in raw talent. Is this true? I really don't think this is true...

- Depends on what you're measuring success. If it is in wealth alone, then some people make it with neither talent or through hard work (Paris Hilton maybe??). Ignoring wealth I think it is mix of the two, 60% raw talent and 40% hard work.
- You have to work hard in order to gain talent. If you're just handed success, you're not talented at all-and you're definitely hard working. The people that work hard, are the real millionaires in life.
- Based on your list of billionares. If you take out the family generational money, take out the royality, What you are tend to be left with are those who have the talent who work insanely hard. Either through products , land, financial systems. The world doesnt just dub thee a billionare, what it does believe in is 1) What you know 2) Who you know 3) How much are you willing to give up for the first two
- I think, it depends not only on both hard work and raw talent but also on many other things and factors.
- I would say that raw talent is not enough. There are plenty of people who have enormous talent, but do not have the drive or motivation to utilize that talent. There are also plenty who have enormous talent for whom amassing billions is not a priority. So you have to have more than talent.
- Y'know the two you just mentioned supports each other. If you have talent, you shouldn't waste it and work hard to enhance it more. There's always a room for improvement and if you think you're already good at something then you should strive to be better than good and possibly try to be the best. If you're a hard worker then I'm pretty sure you can gain "talent" (although talent comes as an inborn trait). If you're patient enough and work on something, you'll eventually become good at it~ This hard work will pay off someday as the talent you've gained could put you up in one of the best~ But I don't think it's just talent or hard work. You've gotta have luck on your side too. Celebs or musicians for example, lots of them were usually found in a scenario like this: "They were playing in a gig and it so happens that a music producer visited the area."
- I think if you have a dream to be successful at something you just have this drive inside of you to do it and you work at it till you succeed. I f you love what you do then success will follow. Be yourself do what you love and have the money!!!
- Both!
- Your father is right. It's a mix of hard work, raw talent and luck to be those billionaires. Everyone can control the hard work aspect, but people are born with certain personality traits that just make them successful in certain field, luck is about being there at the right time, having the right team of people working for you. The chance of being on of the hundreds is lower than winning the lotto!! Hard work still pay off. And eventhough you may not be the billionaires, you should aim being a multi-millionaires/ whatever is realistic for you.
