Can you wish a soldier a happy birthday?

I'm asking this question because I'm a young soldier still in (IET) Initial Entry Training. My birthday is April 12, 1987. I just feel a little depressed that I'm stuck on post for my 21st birthday. I wish that I could be with my friends & family today, but I'm in (AIT) & won't be able to take leave for another 6 weeks. Pvt Mitchell from Ft.Sill, Oklahoma

I know it's hard to not be able to be home with your friends and family for your 21st Birthday but you can make up for it when you get home. But serve proudly because we are damned proud of you. I actually had my first drink(s) on my 21st birthday. Godawful vodka tonics. Still sick 40 years later.
