Help with magazine promotions & sponsorships!?
I was just hired to a magazine, and I am in charge of finding businesses to promote and sponsor within the magazine. I have experience working as a promotional model, but I am a bit overwhelmed with this process. Does anyone have any positive pointers or tips to help me become successful in this line of work? Thanks, Amber

- Get copies of competing magazines and approach whoever is advertising in those.
- You should create a professional and detailed media kit. (Have a look at the websites of some of the most popular magazines for some inspiration). Aim to include all the reasons why a company should be advertising or supporting your magazine as opposed to your competitors. They will want to know things like number of copies you sell, who is your average reader, perhaps an editorial calendar for the next six months or so. Getting sponsorship or advertising in the publishing industry is hard right now, but it's certainly not impossible if you can create the desire in those you are approaching. Good luck.
