Hands down self respect! You cant love someone unless you love yourself
That's a very complicated answer, but I would say humility... it helps you get through most things and still love each other. Its a trait that takes time to develop and a lot of connection to your spiritual side.
A sense of humor.
One one thng that I see, they have a communication style that works for them. They can discuss any topic and stay on track. Second, they "Fight Fair."
several things. but not haveing the "i can do what i want and he/she cant tell me no" attitude. working together and being respectful to each other. give and take
I agree... a sense of humour. A couple who does not take themselves too seriously usually can work through the problems life throws at them.
TOLERANCE
Communication is the biggest to me. I've seen way to many people floating around like "I wonder what he's thinking"? Well why don't you ASK then?! That drives me insane. Also respect for yourself & your partner. Too many people saying they don't know where their husband goes at night & stuff like that. WHY NOT? Getting stepped on is not your job in a marriage.

I think it's that they really like being with each other. We've been married 34 years and we like each other....and we truly are friends besides being lovers and all the other stuff.
