Success Happy

Do you have to be attractive to be successful in any aspect of life?

Would you settle for a very ugly scientist who has all the answers compared to a handsome one with half the answers? Does anyone truly care about the advancement of art, science, sports, politics and the economy or is it all just a medium for beautiful people to be admired in their secluded environment? looking for honest,down-to-earth insights and your opinion only.

  1. in this world yes you have to be beauty or attractive.
  2. Only if you are going to do it naked. As for the scientist, I would go for the one with all the answers. I don't care what he looks like.
  3. I think in our society, money seems to be more important than looks. Having brains is also more important in many careers, which can result in success in that career and ultimately wealth. A lot of the most successful people are physically unattractive. Look at Bill Gates. In the field of science and technology, knowledge definitely overpowers looks. Because those fields require knowledge, there is no advancement for those without it. Fields requiring "talent" though don't necessarily need much, as weird as that sounds. Singers, actors, politicians, and even chefs now have become occupations determined and scrutinized by attractiveness. It's ridiculous. Who the hell cares if Sarah Palin was supposedly hot, or if the host of Top Chef can pull off knee length boots? Sadly, a lot of people. I think the real issue is that the people who make the most difference in the world are not deemed worthy of attention by society. Someone can be very successful but will likely not receive any widespread notice of it unless they're attractive. Also certain people have only their looks to go on, and so will receive attention for it, because that's all they have.
  4. You only get the impression because of the media driven culture revolving around beauty.. Which is why everything has to be presented in a polished, clean, appealing way to attract attention. In that world your fingers won't leave greasy marks on shiny surfaces. Best example are of course commercials, put your money in this or that and be popular, successful and happy forever. But behind the scenes it's not that superficial, what matters more are of course other qualities, like personality, knowledge, creativity ect.. Good looks may contribute to better self-esteem which may result in aiming higher and stronger "drive" towards your goals and as a consequence enable you to achieve more.
  5. I am so glad that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If a man saved my life, he would be the most beautiful man in the world...no matter what anyone else thought. The outside is just a shell.
  6. There are plenty of unattractive people who are successful, that's what politics is for :P The main thing is that someone knows what they're talking about and/or does their job properly. I really don't think anyone would employ someone at NASA because they were good looking, not if they didn't understand physics as well as some ugly person. The beautiful people are quite welcome to films and TV :)
