How do i start a successful blog from scratch?

How would I go about creating a new blog that could become successful in less than a year. I have a lot of ideas of different things I could include, so I don't know that content would be an issue. What are good ways to promote a new blog and is it better to jump around with different topics or stick to one? What else can I do to make it successful??

1. firstly you got to make your blog attractive...like making a nice design so that people will be interested in it...next you can go and sign your blogger to nuffnang...which makes it public and you can get paid.
2. what if it's not "successful " within a year? will you drop it? what does "successful" mean to you? it takes more than one year.

I would suggest you stick to a general topic like cars, technology, or whatever you are good in so that your blog will have an identity. it is a must for people to be able to remember you when they think of your niche. When you have your content, do some blog walking on blogs near your field, leaving comments on peoples' blog and of course, a link back. Join forums, add your site in your siggy.

6. Don't listen to Bob, Bob doesn't know what he is talking about. Taking more then 1 yr isn't always true. Might I suggest you begin with Youtube? Vlogging (video blogging, tutorials, skits...) then if you make partner you earn $$ then make a regular blog to go on the side of that.... But don't be too annoying when plugging yourself where you literally become a troll/spammer it will earn you more hate then success.
