Do you need good grades to be successful in life?

I am in 9th grade. I got all A's in middle school but now I get like low b's high c's. Is this okay? I always used to think I needed all As to be somewhere good in life. But do you really think someone needs good grades? I would love to hear your opinions!

  1. I think you can bring those c's to b's and those b's to a's. A lot of colleges like to see good grades on your report card and high c's and low b's aint gonna cut it.
  2. not really. look at all the athletes that cant read green eggs and ham. do something you love stick to it make it your all
  3. Yes, as it my seem that highschool is getting harder, you need to work your a.s.s. off now so that you can enjoy life later. If you get a C+ you know you can get better, just try harder next time. On weekends plan what you have for the week and study AHEAD of time. And you are 100% correct. You do need to AIM for A's but getting B's is not bad. Getting C's is when you need to wake up and notice that those great colleges are giving you your last chance now! Your whole life depends on now. And as teh economy is changing, and life is depending more on what you do now you need to work as hard as you can. ggooooooooooooodluck:]]]

  5. it depends on lots of things, mostly on where you would like to be in 10 years. everybody stresses the importance of college, but it isn't for everyone. i barely scraped by in high school but still got accepted to a great university, where i learned that it's just like high school but MUCH faster paced. i struggled and just barely completed 2 semesters and decided not to return. it took me 4 years to repay my student loans from those 2 measly semesters! life without a college degree can be difficult, but there are many "middle of the road" opportunities, such as certified nurse aide, you can get that certificate in a couple months or a year, can't remember. a commercial driver's license will give you some opportunities, not just driving big rigs. any kind of technical company needs entry-level employees, from sales to physical labor. just keep your head up and never stop looking for opportunities! i got lucky and landed a great job for my small town area, it's a nationwide company that pays great (relative to the cost of living for my area), has great benefits and perks, and i absolutely love the actual work. the problem is the company is completely corrupt and they treat their employees terribly. everything has advantages and disadvantages, people just tend to think in black and white, like "oh you're screwed if you don't go to college!", that's not true, you just have to work harder to achieve things. good luck! oh and don't have kids, that'll just ruin everything...
  6. The grades are not the point. The habits you develop in order to get the grades are the important thing. Good grades show you have worked hard and stuck with the job when it wasn't easy. In some cases good grades also reflect how smart you are.
