Shouldn't the President have to go through simulator training?
He or she has the lives of millions of people hanging in the balance. Even commercial airline pilots have to go through rigorous simulator training for the responsibility of less than a few hundred lives. Wouldn't it be a good idea to force the President into a "TopGun" training program (in transition) so possible stupid mistakes like we have been seeing as of late probably wouldn't happen?? Anyone have any idea how much training goes into teaching the President how to be a good Commander in Chief and hopefully making it highly unlikely in getting any unneccesary people killed? I'm thinking whatever the amount of training is, it is not enough. I'm Not necessarily blaming George Bush; could it be this process here that is at fault? Your thoughts on this specific set of questions written here only, please. Someone please address the final question here, regarding whether it is this process of training for the President that is lacking.

- that is silly!
- No we don't need a president with military training. Bush is doing just fine. I am proud to call him President.
- bush 2.0 came with glitches in the software
- Are your parents making you take simulator training on how to move out of their basement and get a real job?
- How would simulator training help make him a better commander in Chief. Do we need to send him out on maneuvers too, or to sea for 6 months? You are stretching this one a little too thin.
- No can do. But we can have hardcore no holds barred debates, and plenty of them. That will weed out the future morons. Oh wait, we can't have those kind of debates. The democrats have already run like cowards from a debate sponsored by Fox news in Nevada. I guess we'll have to wait for a CNN sponsored debate. Oh wait, CNN is already excluding candidates from appearing. Only candidates on CNN's short list are eligable to appear. Why don't we just elect CNN as our next president.
- Interesting idea... but then who would arrange the training curriculum and determine what the "right" answers were ?? The President-elect gets his daily briefings from a representative of the National Security advisor... otherwise there is no "training" per se. There ARE simulations run, not unlike the movie "WarGames", but the President is NOT involved because of the fear of others learning what the presidents choices MIGHT be. Such simulations are run to train Commanders, not the CinC.
