Where can I find a New York resident's marriage records online for free (through the state website)?
Can this be done, or will I have to go to the county clerk's office and pay for an official copy when I don't need it? Thanks!

- Depends. Is the person dead? If he is then you may be able to find it on websites like Ancestry.com (you have to pay, but many public libraries have a subscription to it, you can also sometimes ask people on the Genealogy section to look it up for you). If they are alive, you are going to have a hard time trying to acquire it, as privacy laws prohibit them from releasing them to any old person without a good reason. Cheers! ©2008 SinisterMatt.
