Yes, it can. Will it? Probably not. There is NO LAW against being in love with a 16-year-old. There are laws, however, against having sex with a 16-year-old. In two years, she'll be 18. If they truly love each other, they can keep their relationship platonic until then.
I really don't see anything wrong with it. When i was 17 I was with a 33 yr old. ok well that was a fling more than anything but still.,I have seen lasting relationships with a big age difference. but i will say, with her being only 16, there is a bigger chance it ain't gonna last forever thats for sure
Your friend should be very careful about this relationship. She is still a minor until she turns 18. If the relationship is sexual then he could be charged with rape of a minor. He better hope her parents don't object to the relationship.
If the guy is a hardened pedophile or a loser who can't seduce a woman of his own age, then sure the relation can work. Until he gets arrested.
No because they come from different generational values. I am guessing that she does not have a good male role model. Whether she knows it or not he is filling some need in her subconscious for a father figure. She should end it and wait for someone her own age before she ends up pregnant and eloping or worse. I know what I'm talking about on this one. She needs to see a counselor to see why she has low self esteem. And its creepy that a 28 year old is not with someone older. What's wrong with him?
They'd have to be very careful, and parental approval would certainly help, though being a bit of a romantic, I'd say if they can't be happy for you, screw them. I'd also say that, at such a young age, it may be better putting it on hold whilst your friend completes her education. If they haven't had sex yet, definitely wait for a while for that. He'll become transfixed on sex with this younger girl and she'll be smitten for her older guy and his experience.
No, this relationship sounds like bad news. The 28 year old guy is in a completely different stage in his life. He's already done with college, I presume, already been through high school, and is probably settling into his career, and at this age, most men are looking for marriage, or either just playing the field and using women. While your friend on the other hand, is a naive little teenager, who is still in high school and has so much to experience in the next few years; therefore, she is easily manipulated in feelings, emotions, and actions. He can use his age and experience as a crutch and take advantage of her. Most likely, all he is looking for, is sex with a young girl...which you should know, is illegal since she's a minor. So, of course, it's not going to be successful. He still thinks of her as a little girl.
I think that if a 28 year old guy can't get a 28 year old girl and has to go after a 16 year old girl there's clearly something wrong with him that the girls his own age see and won't date him for. Take for example my friend who was 19 and dating a 29 year old. She thought he was so normal and funny and blah blah blah... She ended up finding weed AND cocaine in his apartment. Now, I'm not saying the 28 year old guy you're talking about is on drugs, I'm just saying that there has to be some kind of hidden red flag in there that says "don't date me!".

1) This guy is a CRIMINAL. 2) It's unlikely. He's likely dating her because he can't get someone his age for whatever reason and she likes the appeal of an older guy because they're "mature". First does the 16 yo even know what love is? has she enough life experience and i think what we all are saying is there is a serious legal issue here- its statutory rape no questions asked- even if she consents or even if he didnt do anything i dont know what person your friend is but i have heard of a bad brake up where the girl claimed statutory after the fact just to get back at him i dont see if they truly love each other why she cant live a little (at least 2 years) and then see how they feel about each other. theres nothing wrong with it at all..down in australia as long as the girl is over 16 and she consents to anything from him ( sex etc) its fine... i know quite a few people who are dating people younger than them.. its a big thing in australia you have 28 yr olds dating 18 year olds and 26 yr olds dating 17 yr olds.... its not a huge problem down here...

Even if they do have a physical relationship after the girl is 18 if they want to make a success out of the relationship they can. relationships dont work by themselves. you have to make them work with true love,compassion,understanding,tolerance, mutual respect, give and take etc etc
