How do you raise the happiness of a pokemon?

Earlier I posted a question askin what level my eevee will elvole because she is a level 42 and still no evolution lol. I know you have to use a stone, but it can evolve into espeon and umbreon without a stone, but you guys said i have to "raise its happiness". How do you do this, oh btw this is POKEMON GOLD. Thanks!

Winning battles is the only known way on gold. It takes time though. losing drops it so watch out!
in the underground of goldenrod city you can give your eevee a hair cut which raises your pokemons happyness and helps a lot with evolving.
You can give it a haircut. I haven't played gold in loong, but i know you can give it a haircut, and it will make it happier. As I said I haven't played it for a long ting, but i know you can buy a hair cut for pokemon from an underground passageway. Sorry for the lack of accuracy. x
you train the Pokemon and make sure is stays healthy and doesn't faint
Espeon: Eevee only evolves into Espeon during the ONLY during the DAYTIME. This is a happiness based evolution, so be prepared to take some time with it. This Psychic type offers a lot in terms of both support and ability. While not the fastest Eevee evolution, it’s second fastest. Espeon aims to strike first and strike hard generally. You have to battle, and let it stay with you, Not in a box.
Battles, Vitamins, Walking, Friend Balls, and the Grooming all helps. Breed your Eevee if you want an Umbreon or Espeon. That takes its base to 120. You have to get to 220. What you should do is buy a bunch of Vitamins and use 2 different kinds (Def/Sp. D on Umbreon, Sp. A/Spe on Espeon) of them, and then level up 4 times, and you are done. Seriously. That simple. Since it is on level 5, it should be easy to raise it to Umbreon.
When you feed a berry to a Pokemon, they will become happier, depending on what type of berry it is. Certain Pokemon like certain berries.
Winning battles, soothe bells, vitamins, massages and walking around with your Pokemon. The most effective way is to give them a massage. There are two brothers in the underground path in goldenrod city which gives your Pokemon haircuts which raises thier happines (from from diamon and pearl)
the way to raise its happiness is to have your eevee in your party for a while and then you can also give it vitamins eg protein carbos calcium which u buy at pokemart and do not let it faint at all. then level it up and evolve it i recomend evolving it into espeon by the way.
walking a lot of steps around will find you points but not many i would try have it level up a lot in the elite four but dont let it die for all cost it takes a while

In Generation II it is a single byte with a value between 0 and 255. It starts out at 70 when a Pokémon is captured from the wild, and gets reset to 70 when a Pokémon is traded from another game. Battle alot and win Heal it when it gets hurt (quickly or it will dislike you) Vitamins a hair cut (i son really remember where)
just keep it out of battles, then get it in a battle every once in a while, then whether it gets hurt or not you have to take it to a poke center or some place where it heals completely from stat problems or any other stuff but u have to do it fast. then its happiness will get higher.
There are many ways you can raise It's happiness many ways 1. raise it's level 2.give it an item to raise it's happiness 3. let it be the first pokemon in your team 4. battle it alot and the most important thing if you want an umbreon, train it at night if you want an espeon, train it at daytime
