How do I harvest my crops in Harvest Moon Island of Happiness?

So I just got Island of Happiness and I have some crops in my field and I cannot figure out how to harvest them? And once I have the green vegetation do I need to keep watering them? I can't get to the ones in the middle of the field, it won't let me walk in a square with a plant in it. Please help me harvest my turnips!

To harvest just click on the crop and you will pick it up.
