Who else is happy about the subsidized Cobra from the Stimulus Bill?
Who else is happy about the subsidized Cobra that is in the stimulus bill? The subsidized cobra premiums will help many many laid-off people until they can find work again.

- I'm very unhappy, as I am with most provisions of the socialist Porkulus Bill. Riddle me this, Batman: why should I as a taxpayer be forced by the government to help pay for the health care of strangers? Isn't that what charities are for? I'd rather keep that money to pay for health care for my own family. When I can afford to support strangers I'll give to charity. If you think it's so great to pay other people's COBRA premiums, then YOU pay them, but kindly keep your stinking paws, and those of the idiot liberal politicians you elect to rob me by proxy, out of my pockets. Liberals: show your patriotic support for Obama and the Democratic Congress by sending a check for DOUBLE your taxes to the IRS this year. Obama, Reid and Pelosi need more of your money, so show you really care! If you don't send Obama more tax money than you owe, you're a selfish, greedy, bad person!
- I don't think Kilroy is unemployed with health problems, as evidenced by his/her response. I am very happy about the subsidized COBRA - it's a killer coming up with the payment every month. What I want to know is when does it take effect? Will I have to pay my old, higher COBRA payment this month, or should I call my former employer to see if the amount will be lower?
- I think it could help some people who really need health coverage. COBRA will only be subsidized for 9 months. I did not realize how bad the health insurance problem was until I got laid off. COBRA is expensive so I have been trying to find a lower priced coverage. Unfortunately I keep getting turned down for coverage due to a pre-existing condition. The condition is, I am taking medicine to keep my Cholesterol down. That and the fact I saw a doctor in the past year are my only issues. I am healthy and 44 years old. I never figured I would have problems finding coverage. I figured if you had problems the insurance would just cost more. It looks like the insurance and HMO's only want people with Absolutely no problems. I now realize something really does need to be done about health care in our country!!
