Why does yahoo force everyone to have a happy face on the anonymous avatars?

I am a miserable person and am angry that yahoo did not let my 1st question about this through - so I need an angry one. Is happiness compulsory?

4. Well, if you dont like it you can create an avatar with an unhappy or angry face.
5. Because it's their choice? (Besides, avatars of raging psychotics beating a CPU to death with a keyboard might upset someone. Not me, but someone...)
