how do i get a hold of new york city marriage records?

i'm doing some geneaology research, and im trying to figure out who my moms birthfather was (my family has met her birth mother, but she and my moms birthfather have been divorced for many years now). i know they were married in new york city. how can i get some sort of marriage record from the city?
