- A complete understanding of Matthew 7.
- Must be old, delusional, and like little boys. That's about it.
- If you're talking about a successful Pope in the Middle Ages, the qualifications were more down to family influence and money than anything else. Nowadays the qualifications are a bit different.
- NOT being a former Nazi is a good start.
- Define successful. Bloodiest? Brought in the most converts? Died after a few months?
- He should have a fish hanging under his robes.
- Open-mindedness, interest and knowledge about other religions and believes, humbleness, philanthropist.
- Humility, intelligence, patience, wisdom, honesty, and doctrinal knowledge beyond the scope of an average man.
- i don't know , i just wanted to say that there are know popes in the bible, because you don't get to heaven through the pope only jesus. Jesus, is the only one you may call father. not a man in a flashy robe.
- For the Middle Ages really depends on what was going on just outside the Vatican but for these days, same skills that got Putin to where he is at the Kremlin. And no, I'm no comedian or attempting to, I'm dead serious with all due respect if warranted...
- Kill and persecute any one that believes other than they did. Send the inquisition to investigate. Forbid the translation of the bible so no one else can read it and make their own mind up about it. Excommunication if you did not dod their bidding. Most popes would be considered evil, .. i am a christian and even i know that
- Open-mindedness, tolerance. Oh, and he should never go on R&S. EVER.
- the popes in the middle ages were extremely corrupt. and basically turned convents into whorehouses. they didnt have any good traits. google it. look it up on the history channel or BBC
- Popes are not meant to be "successful;" they are meant to be faithful to God's will for His people. Popes, bishops, cardinals, priests, are all simply humans who are called to serve Christ in a specific way. So are you... Blessings!
- They need to admit they are sinners just like the rest of us and they are NOT infallible. The Scriptures tell us that ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. All included the pope.
- Needs to have a good head of hair and needs to be a great dancer. Period!
- Someone who can explain why the second commandment was deleted and the tenth split in two, so you can still have all the bling bling and keep a straight face.
- You need to define "success". If it's control or profit, having strong political connections in your family, or a big well-trained army, or money to start with is always effective. If it's the salvation of the people, humility, compassion and a powerful speaking voice might be assets.
