- I think it largely depends on the career path that one takes. There are a lot of employers that don't look at creativity as a desired trait. The rules and procedures have been set, and they're looking for people who will perform as expected. In this situation, the creative person is usually dismissed as 'not being a team player'. There are instances, however, where creativity is actually noticed, but you typically have to get past the immediate supervisors who's job it is to 'keep an even keel' or 'don't make waves'. For other jobs, such as advertising or marketing, I think creativity is essential. You're always looking for something to distinguish your product, or separate your capability from the pack; to get noticed. I'm also reminded of life in the military - creative people have contributed quite a bit to our nations defense, but often at a personal price. Reference Billy Mitchell, et.al.
- Different is better sometimes. It definately stands out above the crowd. I know being creative doesn't neccessarily mean your gonna be different but it is more likely. People are always looking for something new and exciting for some reason. We strive on being different so much that it's actually a trend. Everyone wants to stand out or grab on to a popular trend and hang with them for a while. Creativity works well in any workplace because it let's "the man" know that you can exceed well in your position and actually let's people know you can think (something that many cannot do for some reason). Does it play a role? A Huge role. I think it plays a role in almost Every type of job you can think of. How much it matter's is a different question but important for all. Does creativity lead to success? It may or may not. Could it help? Oh definately. I say that it plays a fairly large role but not as much as regular text book knowledge and experience. It probably plays more of a role after you get where you want to be from school, experience, ect. and others then start seeing the Creativity in you. Unless your a fashion artist or something like that then it has to be there from the get go.
- A big role! Creativity has a big impact on how you approach anything that comes on your path. As a creative person myself, I see problems as an opportunity to use my creativity. A problem for me is like a big puzzle that needs to be solve and I like solving puzzles, because it uses my brain and my knowledge. Creativity helps me to not take the problem personally, but as something outside of me. If it came to me it’s because I can solve it. You don’t get discourage when you have a problem, you get excited because you’ll be able to be creative and solve the puzzle…Creativity means you are curious in life, and when you are curious, you want to learn and find out as much as you can about something, so it can only bring you successes, because constantly acquiring new knowledge can’t be bad, can only be a positive asset. When I get interested in something, after learning intensively about it, my second reaction is to try to create one myself. I get this urge to create all the time. I always want to try doing my own thing and not buy something already made, I want it to be made for me, so who is best to know what’s good for me, me! Creativity is good for your career, because you are able to use your learning capability to gain more knowledge on your own, it makes you very dependant of others, because you know how to learn by yourself and are self sufficient. You are good at thinking out of the box to solve problems.
