Success Happy

Why is it a crime to become successful and wealthy, according to Democrats?

I find it really ironic that liberals and Democrats oppose people "making it" and becoming successful in this country. Why is that? Capitalism is what makes this country great, yet Democrats (or usually people that sit on their *** all day, won't educate themselves to get a good job, or losers that want everything handed to them) complain about "rich people". Well, guess what people: Rich people provide jobs, spend money in the economy and pay 90% of the taxes in this country. Why is it a crime to work hard and become wealthy?

Public Comments

  1. Strawman. Misrepresent Democrats opinion much?
  2. They don't and it's not.
  3. Well, to answer your question it is not a crime. And those who are rich should NOT be penalised for making alot of money. AT the same time more money should be put into public school and the like so that all of the deadbeats will have the opportunity to get an education and learn some worth ethic.
  4. Because they are jealous of those who make it.
  5. why would anyone be so greedy as to want to keep what they worked for?
  6. It is ironic, since the messiah's nebulous economic plan counts on the rich to provide the wealth to be redistributed. Liberals always want to punish success and reward failure. Liberalism really is a mental disorder. They really should be pitied and helped get treatment.
  7. It's not a crime when done honestly.
  8. Democrat Politicians are RICH people who talk and talk about how They Hate the Rich. Welfare Democrats believe them.
  9. If it weren't for the rich folks would there be any unions? the libs want to bite off the hand that feeds.
  10. What a giant load of horsecrap. Was it worth the 5 points? No one has ever said any of that, what a crappy attempt at building a strawman, you'll never make it to the neocon Varsity squad with lousy material like this.
  11. That's what I'm talking about!
  12. It isn't a crime to work hard and become wealthy. These indolent Republicans who inherited their wealth (George W. Bush, to cite the best-known example) might want to try it sometimes. What is a crime is fraud, and that's what so many of these idle rich did. It seems that defrauding people is the only thing they've ever worked hard at.
  13. Free enterprise? wats dat?
  14. According to some wealth is a zero sum game. You cannot generate wealth, you can only steal it from others. Hence if you are doing well you are only doing well at the expense of others. You cannot become wealthy without oppressing them and stealing the fruits of their labor for yourself. I do not agree with any of that malarkey, but it certainly seems to be a heavily prevalent attitude.
  15. Not once, ever, have I seen/heard a Democrat say that. I know I never have. It is a perception you guys have that is totally in your own minds, no one else's. Hate to break that to ya. Do you know how many wealthy successful Democrats there are in this country? Here's a hint for you.... A LOT.
  16. Because if you are self-reliant the Dems can`t control you as much as they would like.
  17. To this questioner, asking people who make $300,000 a year to pay an extra $4 in taxes per day (which is what Obama is proposing) is equal to making it a crime to be wealthy.
  18. I am a successful Democrat, retired and living on my yacht on the Gulf Coast. I winter in the Bahamas at my whim. You many even have worked for me and did not know it. Being a success in life depends more on how much money you generate, not how much you can avoid returning to the system that made your success possible.
  19. Democrats only fight for the middle class because no one else will. Who's gonna buy from the rich? Only way your policy works is if you can trust your CEO's, and by the looks of it today? They are as crooked as ever. Will owners and CEOs send jobs overseas? Will the extra money "trickle down" to the workers? Will they use it for vacations instead? They call your politics "Swiss Cheese" lots of holes!
  20. they don't disapprove of people making it as long as they get to steal their share of your success and i really dont understand why people think you cant trust CEOs but you can trust corrupt politicians who are really the same kind of people
  21. wrong obviously you know nothing about Democrats
  22. Find me one, just one quote where any Democrat stated that "making it" is a crime. Not all rich people "provide jobs", and the wealthy elite of this nation certainly do not pay "90%" of the taxes in this country. Naughty propagandist.
  23. envy is the root of hate.....
  24. oh please....more cheese with that whine ? It's only called "income redistribution"...when the wealthy get taxed more...otherwise it's just more taxes on the working class....which is commonly referred to as trickle down my leg economics. In order to have a real debate about taxes...you first need to decide which form of taxes you are talking about..... There is a difference, believe it or not.... between taxing the profits of an incorporated company...and taxing the personal income of the owner / ceo who draws from the company... Corporate tax is a liability of profit making...not a cost of doing business... Income tax, on the owner, doesn't have any correlation to whether or not that company is going to expand or contract operations... and any business owner who ran their company with that logic would soon find themselves without a business to worry about. Job creation, and business expansion relies on SALES to consumers... not a tax bracket on the personal income of the owner.. This is not a business driven economy...it is a consumer driven economy,...and consumer confidence is in the toilet, because the working class don't have any money to spend on anything other than gasoline and bills.....fix that problem and the economic wheels begin to turn again.
  25. Well they consider it a crime unless they are rich themselves, for instance Michael Moore considers it ok for him to be rich but not for everyone else (unless they agree with him on things). Michael Moore ripped Cheney apart for having money in Haliburton but Michael Moore has money in Haliburton. Michael Moore also has money in Carlyle but the Bush family took their money out of Carlyle when they found out the Bin Laden family has money in that.
  26. There is no crime in working hard and becoming wealthy. Where are you getting this from? I've never met a Dem who bashed rich people, unless said rich people sneered and looked down at them, which is basically what you're doing now. You need to look online for a long list of wealthy Democrats, by the way. I'd really like to know your thoughts about rich Dems. I'm sure you've got something to pull out of your hat - via Limbaugh.
  27. what ever you think just comes out through the internet with out any basis in reality huh forrest
  28. That's the game they play to there followers.Thats what much of there base wants.
  29. The problem isn't that people have made success in their lives in the US, the new problem is HOW they got there, which is why the middle and lower classes complain about. It's about how many of the wealthy create large barriers to entry that the mom and pop startup shop can't even compete with, as well as how much the big corporations buy out our politicians with campaign donations. Capitalism is about free competition amongst people in the same industry to build better products and thus let the market decide what to buy. The problem is that now many larger companies put a lot of effort to sway the market to their favor and make it harder on others. Case in point is when a large supplier of a product comes down on retailers when they sell competing products on their shelves, so they threaten to pull all their products if the competition isn't removed. That's a free market? PLUS Capitalism and Free Market has not taken globalization into account. We see how many jobs are shipped out because these companies can get cheap labor abroad, then buy out politicians to get tariffs and other taxes removed so they make more money...rather than have the system be that it's cheaper to employ Americans. How can companies compete with US Labor when you can get labor for pennies to the dollar in other countries? It's cheaper to give a big donation to a politician and get laws changed to help you. Nobody has a problem with someone being a success, but we have a problem when the actual idea of a free market is removed. When it comes down to the idea that we have to shop at Wal-Mart or Target or K-Mart, but Joe Average can't open up a store like that because all three threaten distributors not to supply him or they all undercut prices to even a loss level just to put him out of business quickly. All the ones who believe liberals are against free market need to really look and see how "free" the market has been...and how many more just want a fair chance. Nobody wants handouts, but we want to be able to work 40 hours a week, have job security, respect, and room for growth. We see tax cuts for big business and yet we end up paying more taxes, and thus we think it's unfair. Bear in mind, when we hear he claims about the percentages of the whole the rich pay in taxes, no one ever analyzes how much percentage of ever dollar of income the wealthy pay in comparison to the middle and lower classes. Yes a millionaire will pay a grand total that's larger than a middle class worker, but he's been paying a smaller PERCENTAGE OF HIS INCOME than the middle class worker. I personally don't want to tax them a higher percentage than I get, but I want things equal and fair. Isn't that what the US is all about?
