Success Happy

How do I know when I'm successful?

Hello there, I have always wanted to be a independent woman that didnt need to depend on a man to make things work and i always wanted to be the best at everything I do.. I am a college student I have a gpa over 3.8 and I am a salary paid manager that works over fifty five hours a week. But i never feel like I accomplish enough and am never proud of my self. It seems like I can't find peace in my self or be satisfied.. I don't find my self successful but only a failure.. what is successful?

  1. You have a steady job and not anyone can get a gpa of 3.8 so you're def smart, don't be so hard on yourself
  2. Only you can decide when you are successful. No one elses opinion matters on this topic.
  3. I will simply pass along the best advice I ever got on this topic... Think about what your biggest dreams and aspirations are. Think about where you see yourself in 5 years. Think about what kind of lives your parents have, and your grandparents. If you define them as successful, then you should work toward building a life similar to that. Just keep in mind that life likes to take your plans and throw them out the window. If you are happy with your life, if you see there are more beautiful and positive things than there are negative, then you are successful. I work my butt off for $8.50 an hour, in the food service industry, but I define myself as being successful because I'm happy. I have good friends, family that's always there for me, and I'm in decent health. Nothing is perfect by any stretch of the imagination, believe me, but it never will be. Look at what you have, and appreciate it for what it is, and what you've accomplished. If you are always looking for "the next big thing," then you will never be successful, and thus never happy. There it is. That's the best advice I can give you. I hope you take it to heart, and remember... Don't take life too seriously. You'll never make it out alive.
  4. I believe you cannot define a successful life until you're near the end of your life, and even then it's not guaranteed you can reflect on it and say or think, "I am/was successful." However, I do believe you can define success now and perhaps make goals if you feel you're not successful. I can only tell you what success mean to me. Only you know what it means to you. That said, here's my list for being successful: 1. Happy/satisfied with who you are 2. Happy/satisfied with what you have 3. Personal happiness outweighs the personal sadness or good days outnumber the bad days 4. Have/had a positive impact on at least one person's life (preferably not a relative) 5. Have/had a positive impact on at least one animal's life (i.e. rescuing a dog from the pound) 6. Have/had at least one positive impact on the environment (plant a tree, clean a riverbank, etc) For me, the first 3 are the most important and is the very core of a successful life. The last 3 are things we should strive to do.
