What are some check-ups to perform before your car hits 100,000 miles?

Are there any things to check for or pay attention to in particular before the 100,000 mile mark? I just had a wheel balance. Tranny service is tomorrow. There is some vibration in the dash when idle and sometimes while driving at slow speeds. (motor mounts??) Are there any other important steps to take? Alright!! This is the 14th year my Buick Regal GS 3800 has been in operation! Long life!!

  1. Possible motor monts. 100k svc should be doing a full tune up and coolant flush also. Supercharged? Need to check and or change the oil in it as well if it is.
  2. nothing special to do. but the vibration might mean the trans is low on fluid. check it. oil for high mile cars, full tune up couldn't hurt. tires maybe. brakes too. have a shoppe do a mechanical diagnosis, to screen any hidden problems. basically any thing to prevent a future problem.
  3. belts, timing chain, injection cleaned, transmission, change all fluids, complete tune up thats all mah-mah
  4. It sounds like this is a keeper. Is it turbo-ed? If it were my car, as it comes up the 100K point, I would thoroughly go through all the emissions components and give it a complete tune-up. I would replace: O2 sensor(s); EGR valve, PCV and maybe the catalytic converter. Give her a complete tune up ..treat her to new plugs (I'd use the factory AC plugs); wires, and a rotor/cap combo. Scrub clean the throttle body and the idle air bypass orifice. Use aerosol brake cleaner to clean the mass airflow sensor. Carefully go over all the vacuum lines and replace any that look cracked or feel mushy. You might find that by doing these things you idle vibration will go away and your engine will run smoother and stronger..... Good luck and congrats on keepin' your GS alive!
