Did you send the Holy Father a Happy Birthday card today?

Joseph Aloysius Ratzinger, the name with which Benedict XVI was baptized, was born on 16 April 1927 in Marktl am Inn , Germany . From 1946 to 1951, the year in which he was ordained a priest and began to teach, he studied philosophy and theology at the University of Munich and at the higher school of philosophy and theology of Freising. In 1953 he obtained a doctorate in theology with a thesis entitled: "The People and House of God in St. Augustine 's Doctrine of the Church." Four years later he qualified as a university teacher with a work on St. Bonaventure's theology of history. How do you rate his work so far?

Public Comments

  1. He's a human, he's not holy
  2. I respect him because he is an old man and somewhat wise man. But I do not agree with him on his beliefs and some of the stupid things he says based on those beliefs.
  3. He's probably the only person that could manage to look evil while reading a birthday card...
  4. No man is a Father nor do I give praise to any bishop, pope or saint. Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
  5. I like Pope Benedict and I especially like that he took the name of Benedict after St. Benedict. He is very conservative, but the Church needs to be. The center of the wheel need to be the conservative part, the radical, liberal part is the outer edge as it should be. The center can not be liberal or the whole cart will fall apart. Happy Birthday Papa! But then I am not RC, so maybe he is more of an Uncle.
