Should women be given certain considerations at the work place?

Considering that women have a dual responsibility of managing the home as well as fulfilling their responsibility at work, they should be given certain considerations at work. This will help them ensure a better work-life balance. Please vote for this online petition here: http://myidea.co.in/voteonidea.php?i=775&smo=yans

  1. No I don't think so at all...I am a women and would be seriously offended...On the flip side, I work with special needs people and am pregnant so there are now some people I chose not to work with because of lifting them etc, but if not pregnant I would never expect to be treated any differently.
  2. I thought women wanted equal pay and equal rights. If we are giving considerations then how is that being treated equal?
  3. This would really be a blow to women trying for EQUALITY, and would discriminate against men who had the same responsibilities. Absolute nonsense.
  4. Okay as a female, I would be offended. Also, your question actually offends me. Who says it's only the woman's responsibility to manage the home? Men can help too you know. We're not living in the 1950s anymore. Men have responsibilities around the home now too.
  5. I always thought so but by looking at your answers there are a lot of people that seem to be offended by your suggestion. I would think someone would want the perks but I guess not.
  6. MEN need to be given extra consideration in the work place- the same as women are. Only then will we achieve and truly balanced working environment. I am a woman, I am pregnant and I can tell you that men do NOT get given the same rights. Women can have paid time off for antenatal appointments in the UK, but men can't? Women get a years maternity leave but men get a pathetic 2 weeks? Not only do I want my partner there, I NEED him there :( I have a very complicated pregnancy and I have to do all this stuff alone. He feels left out and useless, that can't be helping his morale in work, can it? If you give women too many rights you diminish their role in the work place. Balance is the key. Extend the rights to men as well and no-one loses out :)
  7. You need to be much more specific than this. What exactly do 'considerations' mean? In actual terms? I mean, do you want extra time off, or a creche in the workplace? Need more info. Also, why do you assume it is the solely the woman's place to manage the home?
  8. no i don't think so. if women get 'certain considerations' why shouldn't men? if a woman chooses to go to work while she has children then or chooses to have children knowing that she still has to work then that is a choice that SHE made. employers shouldn't have to make special rights for women. that goes against everything women have been fighting for since the 'feminist movement'.. .like equal pay equal rights. not to mention there are plenty of fathers who take care of children by themselves should they get special considerations? if employers start implementing special considerations at work for women it becomes a sticky situation, if they give it to one they have to give it to ALL.
  9. women should get certain consideration at the work place to manage her home and work place i will say yes to the considerations Those who are working in a govt sector they all availing this facilities
  10. No. women are women not invalids. I would not appreciate if i was treated differently at work. To ensure a better balance men should have a better understanding of their responsibilities and help out more, specially at home.
